APPLICATIONS ENGINEER/TRAINER, X-RAY PRODUCTS
JOB PURPOSE:
Nikon Metrology is seeking an experienced Applications Engineer responsible for technical training and application support on computed tomography X-ray equipment.
LOCATION:
NMI Brighton Michigan facility
*50-60% Travel to customer’s facility throughout North and South America

KEY AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY:
Will include, but not limited to the following:
- Provide high quality in-depth technical training for customers and distributors on the proper use/operation of CT X-ray technology (onsite and in-house).
- Provide direct and indirect support for customers and internal personnel on the software and best practices to ensure accurate and repeatable results from equipment.
- Consult with customers on specific applications, understanding the fit and function of the part and provide recommendations / solutions for a measurement strategy.
- Log/track customer communications & support events in TopDesk.
- Enter bugs / enhancements into JIRA to ensure proper tracking.
- Assist with quoting/selling software support contracts, training, and AE consulting.
- Create and/or update the software training manuals.
- Benchmark customer applications and/or inspect parts for customers.
- Prepare customer product requirements review and gap analysis.
- Ability to coordinate activities within multiple departments to assist the customer.
- Professionally Represent Nikon at all Times.
ANCILLARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Dealer Support / Training
- Customer Phone and AE Support
- Assist in distributing pertinent technical information to Field Service Engineers
- Training / Demo equipment maintenance and upkeep
- Trade Show Support
- Applicable standards and specification alignment and compliance (ISO, ANSI)
- Recommend design improvements to enhance product performance and ease-of-use
- All other duties, as needed or required.
QUALIFICATIONS:
ESSENTIAL:
- BS/BA or equivalent combination of education
- Degree topics Engineering, NDT, Computing Science, Mathematics, Biology, Physics.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
- Ability to effectively communicate in a professional manner.
- Ability to provide technical solutions with a high degree of professionalism.
- Initiative-taking and well organized.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSE, REGISTRATIONS:
- Valid driver’s license and ability to be insured.
- Able to work on ITAR projects.
- Valid passport and ability to travel outside of the United States.
DESIRABLE:
- Prior X-RAY CT experience preferred.
- VG experience preferred.
- Previous NDT experience preferred.
WORKING ENVIRONMENT/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- 50% - 60% overnight travel, domestic and international
