The Packaging Engineer is responsible for supporting global package design, development and testing of instruments, diagnostic kits, reagents and labeling with the opportunity to work on a diverse number of projects allowing for career growth.
This packaging engineer position is part of the Manufacturing Engineering Dept. and is located at Sunnyvale, CA and is a hybrid position. At Cepheid, our vision is to be the leading provider of seamlessly connected diagnostic solutions.
In this role, you will have the opportunity to:
· Participate on cross-functional teams to develop packaging and labeling from early development through commercial launch phases to ensure all internal and external packaging compliance and documentation requirements are met
· Troubleshoot packaging and labeling-related issues in manufacturing and assist with failure investigations, and non-conformance and CAPA activities
· Create and execute packaging protocols/reports to ensure the packaging system meets/performs to set requirements. Support qualification of sealing/packaging equipment/processes in manufacturing
· Lead packaging and labeling projects with moderate resource requirements, risk, and/or complexity and Work on packaging solutions that will help reduce overall CO2 omissions globally and minimize our carbon foot print
· Interpret internal/external business challenges and recommend best practices to improve products, processes or services; use sophisticated analytical thought to exercise judgement and identify innovative solutions
The essential requirements of the job include:
· Bachelor’s degree in a related field with 2+ years of related work experience or a Master's degree with 0-2 years experience
· Must have a knowledge of ISO, MDR, ISTA and ASTM standards and regulatory requirements
· The position requires a high degree of organizational skills, adaptability, creative decision making, and technical problem-solving abilities.
· Travel to US and global manufacturing sites may be required (~10% travel)
It would be a plus if you also posses previous experience in:
· Labeling software, specifically Labelview
· Cold-chain packaging
· Validation of packaging related equipment such as printers, sealers, and similar

The salary range for this role is $90,000 - $115,000. This is the range that we in good faith believe is the range of possible compensation for this role at the time of this posting. We may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range. This range may be modified in the future.
This job is also eligible for bonus/incentive pay.
