While engaging with international teams and partners, TER’s office in Colorado Springs primarily focuses on fundraising, administration, marketing and communications, and data-driven systems that impact the entire organization.
The Finance Director (FD) oversees all financial data, expenditures, and processes of The Exodus Road’s global team. The FD coordinates communication and the flow of financial information among and between TER’s key leaders and teams, including international teams. He/She ensures compliance with financial policy, adherence to donor standards (including US government regulations), and effective and efficient use of donor resources. This position reports to the Chief Operating Officer and serves a critical role in the future of the nonprofit.
- Oversight and management of all financial data, expenditures, and finance staff in The Exodus Road’s global team.
- Ensure the efficient management of budgets, accounts payable, payroll and taxes, and fiscal oversight.
- Making recommendations on continuous improvement of processes and the timely use of data to drive decision-making in all departments.
- Ensure that the flow of financial information and reporting is consistent and transparent to all key stakeholders.
- Lead the Finance Team as they engage with the third-party annual audits.
- Develop annual goals and action plans in alignment with TER’s strategic plan.
- Serve as a support to all teams in accomplishing their goals more efficiently, effectively, and with a data-driven approach.
- 8 years progressively responsible experience managing non-profit finances; previous experience in nonprofits required
- Previous US Government funding experience required (i.e. familiar with a Single Audit process)
- Experience with international account consolidation across multiple foreign currencies
- Experience managing large sub-contracting arrangements, preferably with US Federal funding following guidelines found in 2CFR200
- Proven ability to manage significant budgets and multiple projects
- Financial software and CRM experience
- CPA required. Degree in nonprofit management, finance, business administration or related field is a plus.
- Excellent time management skills with the ability to prioritize work and meet deadlines.
- Ability to navigate ambiguity in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent written and verbal communicator with strong interpersonal skills to interact positively with all levels of TER staff, including international teams, donors and grantmakers, and outside contractors

What Does Success Look Like?
- 1st 90-Days: Completed accelerated learning plan that includes (1) familiarity with core organizational functions, (2) competency on all systems and processes, (3) beginning to provide critical insight via reports and analysis for data-driven financial decisions, and (4) confident grasp of financial and compliance priorities for next six months.
- 6-Month Mark: Clearly contributing value to the organization through leadership, financial report analysis, process improvement, and compliance.
- End of 1st Year: Completed 2024 independent audit and 990 without significant issues. The organization is on course preparing for its first USG Single Audit (FY2025). Plan in place for global account consolidation.
