Sentara Norfolk General Hospital, a Level 1 Trauma Center, located in Norfolk, Virginia is seeking Registered Nurse Traveler for their Vascular and Interventional Procedures Unit - PVI Endovascular Lab. This position is for a Temporary Full time Day shift Traveler. Must have two or more years of current acute care hospital experience related to ICU, PACU, or Procedural Care to qualify.
Hours/Shift:
Full Time Day Shift Position, (Four 9 hour shifts) schedule procedures are posted Monday Friday 7:30am to 5pm. Weekend, holiday, and overnight call will be required. 30-minute call response time.
Department/Position Overview:
Our department includes 25-bed prep & recovery unit and 8 procedure rooms.
Nurses are cross-trained in circulating for interventional radiology, neuro, ultra sound and vascular procedures. We are looking for a strong nurse due to the autonomy and critical thinking needed in this role.
The procedure nurse provides hemodynamic monitoring, administers moderate sedation, and assist the interdisciplinary team during procedures to ensure excellent patient care.
The procedure nurse assists in the Vascular & Interventional Centers pre-op and recovery area to ensure a safe and efficient transition for our patients. Rooms are staffed with 2 Techs and one RN that work together to safely and efficiently provide care for the patient.
- Nurse-to-patient ratio? 1 Nurse to 1 patient for procedural care, fast turnover, 4-7 cases a day.
- Patient population: Patients requiring biopsy to verify malignancy, Patients with Cancer undergo a variety of treatments, i.e., Cryoablations, Microwave ablations, Chemo and Radio embolization. Active stroke patients requiring interventions and post neurological assessment. Patients in need of various endovascular interventions. Patients also require new placement and replacement lines and tubes including but not limited to nephrostomy tubes, gastrostomy tubes, and central venous access devices. Trauma patients with active organ bleeding requiring embolization, patients require careful hemodynamic monitoring and management requiring blood transfusions.
