This position is eligible for a hiring Incentive. The salary range for this position is $29.01 - $43.49/hour.

Adventist Health Portland s state of the art surgery department provides a comprehensive range of surgical specialties as well as a variety of laparoscopic and minimally invasive surgical procedures. We are currently expanding our operation and service line. Last year we did more than 6,200 surgeries in our main OR alone. We have 2 Da Vinci Xi Robots offering advanced surgical capabilities for the surgeon and has benefits to the patient that include a shorter hospital stay, reduced blood loss, reduced scarring and faster recovery. Aside from the robot we are proud to provide advanced cardiovascular services including open heart.

Job Summary:
Facilitates physician's performance of invasive and therapeutic and diagnostic procedures. Handles the instruments, supplies, and equipment necessary during the surgical procedure. Ensures quality patient care during the operative procedure and is constantly monitoring the maintenance of the sterile field.
Job Requirements:
Education and Work Experience:
- Associate Degree or Certificate of Program Completion in Surgical Technology: Required
- Relevant acute care experience: Preferred
Licenses/Certifications:
- National Board of Surgical Technologists or Association of Surgical Technologists certified: Preferred
- Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) or Basic Life Support (BLS OR HS-BLS OR RQIBLS) certification: Preferred
Facility Specific License/Certifications:
- Basic Life Support (BLS OR HS-BLS OR RQI BLS) certification: Required
- Certified Surgical Technologist (CST): Required
Essential Functions:
- Verifies surgery to be performed with consent forms and brings patient to assigned operating room. Passes instruments to surgeon during procedure. Anticipates surgeon s needs of additional supplies. Performs appropriate counts with circulator prior to the operation and before incision is closed. Prepares sterile dressings. Secures dressings after incision closure.
- Checks supplies and equipment needed for surgical procedure. Obtains appropriate sterile and unsterile items needed for procedure. Sets up sterile table with instruments, supplies, equipment, and medications/solutions needed for procedure. Helps drape sterile field.
- Cleans and prepares instruments for terminal sterilization. Assists other members of team with cleaning of room for turnover. Assists in prepping room for the next patient.
- Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
