Position Overview
The Director of Nursing is responsible for the leadership and management of the MICU at MedStar Washington Hospital Center. Unit Highlights
In a medical emergency, you want the hospital and the healthcare team with the most experience and a reputation for excellence. The MICU department provides care to patients with complex medical conditions like organ failure, respiratory failure, sepsis and DKA. The MICU nursing team prides themselves on working safely and efficiently in a high stress, multifaceted environment.
We strive to provide safe, quality care by maintaining a patient-centered approach. As well as our patients, we benefit from a multi-disciplinary, collaborative team approach, including Nurses, Residents/Fellows, Advanced Practice Providers, Respiratory Therapy and Case Management.
Key Responsibilities
Assume 24-hour administrative and leadership authority and responsibility for the management and direction of emergency services at MWHC.
Oversee the operational, personnel, and financial activities of the unit to ensure efficient and effective resource utilization.
Direct and coordinate the activities of professional and support personnel within the unit.
Collaborate with the nursing leadership team, Medical Staff, and leaders of other departments/disciplines to ensure seamless patient care.
Ensure compliance with all applicable laws, regulations, and MedStar Health's mission, vision, and values.

Qualifications
· Bachelor’s degree in Nursing (Master’s preferred)
· DC RN License
· Minimum of five years of nursing experience
· Two years of nursing leadership experience preferred
· Strong interpersonal and communication skills
