This position is full-time in office. Employees are required to work our normal business hours. It may be necessary, given the business need, to work occasional overtime.
We offer weeks of on-the-job training. The hours of training will be aligned with your schedule.

Primary Responsibilities: - Provides coder training, ongoing coder education, responds to coding questions received from the train trainee, and specialty coder, performs quality monitoring mentors and supports coders by shadowing coders and making recommendations for efficiency and quality opportunities.
- Codes medical records using coding classifications to ensure data integrity and proper assignments.
- Analyzes medical records to ensure accurate coding.
- Collects and abstracts data elements.
- Addresses unbilled and incomplete records.
- Identifies and suggests areas of improvement in high compliance risk coding areas and improves the quality of the health care provider documentation to support code assignment.
- Mentors' coders because of the strong problem-solving quality which helps others benefit from their experience.
- Other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications: - High School Diploma / GED
- 18 years of age or older
- 1+ years professional outpatient coding experience with Allina Excellian.
- 3+ years of medical coding experience.
- Must have the ability to come onsite for day one training and to pick up equipment at 2925 Chicago Avenue Minneapolis, MN 55440
- Must have one of the following certifications:

Preferred Qualifications: - Certified Clinical Documentation Improvement Specialist Credential from ACDIS/AHIMA
- ICD-10-CM AHIMA approved trainer
- Experience leading projects.
- Experience in medical record review.
- Knowledge/familiarity with adult learning concepts
- Development and delivery of ICD documentation and coding education to medical audience
