Industrial Engineers apply advanced problem-solving techniques and Lean Manufacturing principles to design, develop, and optimize production processes to maximize throughput, efficiency, and value. Industrial Engineers are involved in Process Mapping, Capacity Planning, Manpower Planning, Factory Layout, Line Balancing, Simulation and Process Modeling, Labor Performance Analysis, and Project Management. This position involves direct support of manufacturing activities supporting multiple programs across Raytheon’s Effectors Make Centers and the supply chain and may require travel.
What You Will Do
- Focus primarily on supporting factory leadership, Strategic Business Unit partners, and peer organizations to advance Lean Transformation initiatives, identify strategic investment opportunities and lead critical projects benefitting the make centers:
- Partner closely with Factory Industrial Engineers and Program Industrial Engineers to create predictable manufacturing systems.
- Analyze manufacturing system performance to identify undesirable effects and opportunities for improvement.
- Calculate resource utilization and identify throughput constraints.
- Apply Six Sigma and Lean Manufacturing principles to eliminate constraints, improve efficiency, and meet or exceed cost, quality, and on-time delivery goals.
- Create process flows, value stream maps, pareto charts, spaghetti diagrams, and CAD drawings to graphically show manufacturing processes, the movement of material, the exchange of information, and key metrics.
- Contribute to strategic roadmaps focused on factory capacity, Manufacturing Technology insertion, infrastructure improvements, obsolescence mitigation, and the integration of new capabilities.
- Partner with project managers and factory support functions to improve modify the factory footprint and layout of factory equipment as needed.
- Support program contract proposals, business case development for future investments, supplier assessments, and Make/Buy/Where analyses.
Qualifications You Must Have
- Typically requires: A University Degree or equivalent experience and minimum of 5 years prior relevant experience in Industrial Engineering or related field, or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 3 years experience in a related field.
- The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued Secret security clearance is required. U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.
- The ability to obtain and maintain a Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) clearance is required.
Qualifications We Prefer
- Experience/Education with simulation modeling and capacity planning.
- Experience/Education with factory layout and work cell design /optimization.
- Experience/Education with project management.
- Experience/Education with CAD software.
- Experience/Certifications in Six Sigma and Lean Manufacturing.

The salary range for this role is 77,000 USD - 163,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels.
