Job Summary
Under the direction of the Director, Ambulatory Services and in conjunction with the appropriate Chief(s) of service, provides leadership and direction for assigned ambulatory clinics.
- Manages day-to-day clinical functions of assigned areas including, but not limited to, regulatory compliance, performance improvement, clinical competency validations and resource utilization management. Provides input to and monitors personnel and supply budget related to clinical areas of responsibility.
- Manages the daily activities of assigned departments by developing policies and procedures, and monitoring quality and quantity of workflow to ensure work is completed; monitors quality of department operations and recommends changes as appropriate.
- Identifies and resolves, in collaboration with Patient Management staff, quality improvement issues related to registration and billing in ambulatory clinics.
- Coordinates the purchasing and inventory control of relative medical and office supplies. Maintains accurate, current and comprehensive statistical data on department operations; prepares and submits routine and special reports to management on department operations, budgetary variance and recommended operational changes and corrections, as necessary.
- Responsible for monitoring adherence to accreditation requirements. Investigates and resolves problems related to the departments operation or personnel; advises management of major issues and recommends appropriate corrective action. Drafts policy provisions and provides interpretation of department policies.
- Identifies the need for and drafts or defines procedures/protocols in collaboration with higher management input, goals and objectives; modifies procedures/protocols as necessary. Initiates or recommends personnel actions such as hires, fires, disciplines, etc. Provides input on performance appraisals.
- Assists in the development of daily, monthly and/or yearly goals and measures for department, and as requested, assists in assessment of goal attainment. Assists in developing and monitoring budget. Monitors activities for and ensures compliance with laws, government regulations, JCAHO requirements and DMC policies.
- As directed, implements external and internal audit recommendations. Ensures hospital departments achieve objectives for diversity of their suppliers.
Qualifications:1. Bachelors degree in clinical discipline, or the equivalent combination of education and/or experience. Masters degree in clinical discipline, Health Services Administration, Business Administration or equivalent preferred.
2. Three to five years of progressively more responsible clinical management experience, preferably in an ambulatory setting.
3. License to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of Michigan strongly preferred.
