ResponsibilitiesOpen Sky Career Services is a wrap-around service model which provides active participation in high level collaboration, coordination and communication with all partners that serve individuals receiving supports through Competitive Integrated Employment Services. Our goal is to work with job seekers in developing employment goals and assisting them in finding employment opportunities and maintaining meaningful, sustained employment.
Career Counselors follow the guidelines and components of the Competitive Integrated Employment Services model to support individuals in stabilizing their employment and reach successful employment outcomes. They also assist individuals with integrated employment opportunities specific to individuals in their Career Plan based on their interests, skills, abilities, and needs.
Other Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with MassAbility and Department of Transitional Assistance to determine individuals employment and/or educational goals.
- Determine individuals’ vocational readiness through the development of relevant skills including completion of job applications, resume writing and interview preparation.
- Operate as a representative of Open Sky in meetings with funders related to work responsibilities and support for individuals served.
- Assist individuals in accessing and obtaining information about their benefits such as SSI, SSDI and others. Help individuals understand how benefits may affect their employment.
Qualifications- High School Diploma, GED or equivalent, required. Bachelors Degree in Human Services or related field, highly preferred.
- Valid Driver’s License, acceptable driving record and reliable transportation, required.
- Minimum of two years experience working with individuals with disabilities (including behavioral health challenges), required.
- Must be able to work in an independent work environment with proven ability to manage time and tasks, required.
- Must be able to comfortably use technology for documentation and organization.
