Position Details:

--- Schedule/Travel: You generally will be working standard day-time hours at the plant in Cedar Rapids, though occasionally (no more than 25%) will be expected to travel to other sites for specific projects, meetings, etc.

o Target base salary -$115K - $140K (Controls Engineer III)
o Target base salary -$100K - $112K (Controls Engineer II)

Position Description: This role exists to provide controls engineering support to assigned product lines. The key internal customers are the project engineers, product line managers, manufacturing and purchasing departments. Key external customers include vendors, the Technical Support Team, the field service technicians and end customers. The deliverables from this role are electrical engineering design, programming for logic controllers and visualization interface, and technical support.
The individual working in this position is expected to accountable for product lines that typically will be newer and mid-market level models with occasional sale order specials and product extension assignments. A solid technical knowledge base for design and programming is established within this individual, to where you are able to handle most assignments and a standard level of technology with minimal support. You should be able to provide a reasonable amount of support and training to lower level staff on most subjects, and be able to coordinate a portion of your work through others. You should also be capable of identifying and producing moderate level standards, engineering tools, and process improvement initiatives with some direction from the Controls Manager. Some specific responsibilities include:
--- Maintain a fully documented and accurate electrical design and control programs that comply with established company and industry standards.
--- Maintain a cost balance for the electrical design that achieves the lowest base cost with the highest manufacturing efficiency and lowest warranty. This balance should also account for the highest operational efficiency and lowest maintenance requirement.
--- Produce electrical design/program changes to support sale orders, product improvements, and change requests/non-conformances for assigned product lines.
--- Provide timely, complete, and consistent technical support to internal and external business customers as required in support of assigned product lines.
--- Support the Controls Team to increase output, standardization, and repeatability of designs and programs through developing and continuously improving engineering tools and work processes.
--- Develop controls standards.
In order to be successful in this role, you should have a BS in Engineering (ideally EE and or Controls) or related technical field. Extensive relevant experience will be considered in lieu of a degree. You should have working knowledge of CAD software (specifically AutoCad and Solidworks) and be proficient with Rockwell Automation and Programming tools and Allen-Bradley hardware.
