POSITION SUMMARY
The Associate Director of Content and Engagement is responsible for developing and administering the content for in-person professional development, online resources, and events. The Associate Director plans, executes, and evaluates content and engagement initiatives that align with NCOA’s strategic plan, and leads NCOA’s premier annual event, the Age+Action (A+A) conference. This is a hands-on role directly responsible for managing the development and delivery of content for education programs for aging service professionals and/or the public.
Positions at this level typically report to a senior director and require advanced knowledge and experience as well as management capabilities. Incumbents are required to make independent judgements within their scope of work and require minimal oversight. Incumbents generally have five or more years of experience in their discipline and a bachelor’s degree or the equivalent, as well as substantive experience at this level. Graduate level degrees may be considered in lieu of experience.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Events Management:
- Provide support and manage logistics for conferences and events with attendees exceeding 1000+, as well as community stakeholder convenings.
- Works closely with direct report to ensure a thorough understanding of each area of conference logistics.
- Collaborates with internal stakeholders to achieve conference deliverables. Examples include, but are not limited to:
- Promotional and branding support – Communication and Business Development Team.
- IT/technical services – IT Department
- Budgeting, forecasts, contract negotiation – Finance Department
- Oversee post-event reports; A+A revenue reconciliation, including processing online registrations, partner invoicing, hotel invoicing and ensuring goals and objectives are being met
- Create, manage, and execute the moderator scheduling process.
- Oversee the full agenda life cycle from call to proposals with collaboration of the program leads to review, approve and create an agenda strategy according to approved goals and objectives.
- Manage conference email distribution and communication, which includes responding to emails, phone inquiries and taking corrective action on diverse issues.
- Provide post-event reports and track measures and indicators for success.
- Prepare reports, agendas, and meeting materials for the quarterly program committee meeting.
- Manage conference registration software applications, digital signage, messaging, and audio solutions for real-time information dissemination.
Sponsor and Exhibitor Support:
- Provide marketing support in editing and proofing exhibitor and sponsorship content for event-related marketing materials
- Provide support for digital event management software, to include online registration, session tracking, poster/presentation submission, travel management, and mobile app system to customize and streamline digital marketing information.
Content Management:
- Oversee organization, functionality, and evaluation of NCOA LMS in accordance with NCOA best practices.
- Work internally to support program teams to design, plan, promote, and implement digital education activities to include webinars.
- Develop and refine a variety of event models (virtual, and hybrid) designed to effectively engage and educate aging professionals to maximize the NCOA mission. and provide support for the annual Older Adult Mental Health Awareness Symposium, as well as other duties assigned.
- Analyze educational needs, feedback, and outcomes for NCOA digital learning programs including webinars, certificate programs, and survey forms, including needs assessments to make recommendations for future activities.
- Work closely with the business development team to expand digital learning offerings.
- Develop and foster relationships with key stakeholders, including aging service professionals, staff, and corporate partners to cultivate and lead content development, strategy, and design.
- Anticipate and identify issues related to assigned specific deliverables and proactively identify, recommend, and implement solutions.
Personnel Management:
- Manage full-time employee(s), consultants, and contractors hired for content and promotional development and implementation.
- Provide onsite management of a team to accomplish the goals and objectives of each conference.
Other responsibilities as required.
PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of 5 years of related experience in an association or nonprofit environment.
- Experience working with Learning Management Systems (LMS).
- Knowledge of and experience with CE processes.
- Strong program and project management, interpersonal, and analytical skills.
- Advanced organizational skills with a keen attention to detail.
- Exceptional verbal, written, and online communication skills.
- Demonstrated skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with diverse audiences.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).
- Experience with Salesforce or similar CRM software, databases, and online tools is strongly preferred. Familiarity with webinar technology is also a plus.
