Introduction to the job
As a customized device design engineer, you will have the chance to join R&D team to work on the next generation electron detection devices for the leading-edge e-beam inspection and metrology systems. Your contributions will help to improve the performance of those products. Our customers will benefit from the performance improvements of products so that they can make more advanced chips with improved yield.
This position may require access to controlled technology, as defined in the Export Administration Regulations (15 C.F.R. § 730, et seq.). Qualified candidates must be legally authorized to access such controlled technology prior to beginning work. Business demands may require the Company to proceed with candidates who are immediately eligible to access controlled technology.
Role and responsibilities
Identify the design specifications and technical solutions of the customized device based on product roadmap and EDS of the next level sub-system and conduction research and development works in the following areas:
Customized semiconductor device (especially customized electron detection device) design and simulation, performance optimization, and simulation model building.
Customized semiconductor device testing / characterization.
Testing / Characterization method and plan making, and test environment design and building.
Analog and mixed signal circuit (detector signal conditioning circuit) design at both chip and PCB level.
Customized semiconductor device process optimization.
Customized semiconductor device package design.
Work with internal teams and external partners / suppliers on the detailed implementation of technical demonstrators of the customized devices.
Work with internal teams and external partners / suppliers on performance test / characterization of the technical demonstrators. Collect issues, conduct issue analysis, and propose solutions.
Generate design related technical documents e.g., EPS, TPS, TAR, etc. Review technical documents from external suppliers / partners.
Support the system level integration and on system test.
Generate and / or review related IP documents.
Education and experience
Ph.D. with 2+ years of hands-on experiences, or master with 5+ years hands-on experiences, or bachelor with 8+ years hands-on experiences, in electrical engineering. The candidate should have comprehensive understanding of semiconductor physics and hands-on experiences in the area of customized detection device (PiN, APD) design.
Familiar with process for detection devices, Bipolar, CMOS, and BiCMOS devices.
The successful candidate should be a team player and should have self-motivation, initiative, dedication, and strong communication skills.

Minimum qualifications – the hired candidate must possess all of the minimum qualifications to be initially considered for the position including:
Experienced in customized semiconductor device simulation and device structure design in the area of high-speed low noise electron detector / photo detector (PIN and APD).
Hands-on experiences in the area of customized semiconductor detection device (PiN and APD) manufacture process.
Hands-on experiences in the area of customized semiconductor detection device testing / characterization and circuit model extraction.
Experiences of complete customized semiconductor device design and fabrication flow.
Familiar with detector signal conditioning circuits at both chip and PCB level.
Knowledge about semiconductor device test equipment: semiconductor parameter analyzer, SMU, probe station, etc.
Knowledge about electronic test equipment: signal / spectrum analyzer, network analyzer, etc. is a plus.
Familiar with BJT, JFET, and MOSFET device structure and performance optimization for low noise wideband applications is a plus.
Knowledge about semiconductor device process optimization is a plus.
Knowledge about semiconductor device package design is a plus.
Knowledge about MEMS device is a plus.
Knowledge about ESD device and device ESD testing is a plus.
Knowledge about high vacuum system is a plus.

The current base annual salary range for this role is currently $108,750-$181,250. Pay scales are determined by role, level, location and alignment with market data. Individual pay is determined through interviews and an assessment of several factors that that are unique to each candidate, including but not limited to job-related skills, relevant education and experience, certifications, abilities of the candidate and pay relative to other team members.
