L3Harris' Communication Systems segment is currently seeking a Lead Systems Engineer to join our team. This position will be based at our Salt Lake City-UT facility.
Position Overview:
The Lead, DMS Systems Engineer will support both Logistics and DMS support activities. As a DMSMS Systems Engineer, you will be responsible for analyzing, managing, and mitigating the impact of obsolete and diminishing components on our systems and products at a customer reporting level. Your expertise in identifying alternative solutions, coordinating with suppliers, and ensuring continuity of supply will be crucial to maintaining the performance, reliability, and availability of our systems. This role requires a strong technical background, analytical thinking, and exceptional problem-solving abilities.
As a Logistics Engineer, the successful candidate will function both as an ILS Manager and Logistics Engineer responsible for life cycle cost analysis, maintenance planning activities, repair management, supply chain management, provisioning, and various other logistics tasks.
Essential Responsibilities:
- Proven experience in being a leader in DMSMS management, obsolescence mitigation/systems engineering/project management experience
- In-depth knowledge of DMSMS principles, industry standards (e.g., SAE-ARP-6272), government standards (SD-22) and best practices for mitigating obsolescence risks
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to evaluate complex technical information and make informed decisions.
- Experience with component selection, qualification, and substitution processes.
- Proficiency in using DMSMS management tools, databases, and software applications (e.g., I.H.S., Silicon Expert)
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams and communicate technical concepts to diverse audiences.
- Strong organizational and project management skills with the ability to prioritize tasks, manage multiple projects simultaneously, and meet deadlines.
- Proactive mindset, with the ability to anticipate potential DMSMS challenges and develop effective mitigation strategies.
- Coordinate all logistics elements (e.g., spares, support equipment, training, facilities, technical data, provisioning, etc.) to ensure all integrated logistics support requirements for the program are identified.
- Participate in site surveys, and program reviews.
- Provide support to accomplish the generation and review of logistics support documentation that includes the following: Integrated Logistics Support Plans (ILSP), Life Cycle Sustainment Plans (LCSP), Technical Orders (TOs), Technical Manuals, Electronic Technical Manuals, Illustrated Parts Breakdowns, and work specifications to ensure the documentation meets Government logistics support requirements.
- Implement DoD Acquisition and Life-cycle Management policies and procedures.
- Determine resources (e.g. funds, manpower, facilities, equipment, supplies, and services) required to fulfill the logistics plans.
- Obtain and maintains any security clearances, status or licenses required by client to perform work.
- Use and apply Department of Defense Instruction (DoDI) 5000 acquisition processes, relating it to products, production, and sustainment.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree and minimum 9 years of prior relevant experience. Graduate Degree and a minimum of 7 years of prior related experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 13 years of prior related experience. achelor's Degree and minimum 9 years of prior relevant experience. Graduate Degree and a minimum of 7 years of prior related experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Minimum of 7 years of experience in DMS and Logistics Engineering.
- Minimum of 4 years' experience with LSA, MIL-STD-1388 or its replacement GEI-0007, Reliability, Maintainability, Availability and equivalents.
- Minimum of 3 years or experience with cost account and project engineering management will be required.
- Excellent oral and written communications skills along with the ability to work independently or in a team environment is a plus.
- Must be detail oriented and organized.
- Ability to research, analyze, and evaluate DMS and Logistics information.
