Pharmacy Intern Extern Per Diem Rotating Position Summary
Performs the duties of a staff pharmacist under the direct supervision of a licensed pharmacist.
Responsibilities
Under direct supervision, maintains proper narcotic documentation and ensures proper distribution of narcotic medications.
Under direct supervision, ensures appropriate selection of dosing, administering and monitoring of medication.
Dispenses medications accurately for delivery to patient care areas.
May compound medications.
Assists pharmacists with maintaining and monitoring patient profiles.
Provides medication information and education to medical staff and patients.
Prepares IV admixtures and other sterile products (i.e. TPN/ Chemo /Ophth) and unit dose non-sterile preparations, where applicable.
Must be able to perform pharmacy technician job duties, in addition to job duties of pharmacy intern as defined by the Arizona State Board of Pharmacy.
This includes the preparing and replenishing medications into automated dispensing cabinets/ various carts/locked cabinets/boxes/kits with final verification from a licensed pharmacist.
May assume additional responsibilities for providing drug information, medication counseling, clinical interventions, and other assigned project in the inpatient and outpatient (if applicable) pharmacy with permission and supervision from the pharmacist.
Follows established policies and procedures relating to the ordering, receiving, storage, and distribution of medications and IV solutions.
Ensures that an adequate stock of medications and supplies are available to our customers.
Able to perform and electronically document patient medication histories.
THE PHARMACY INTERN EXTERN PER DIEM ROTATING CANDIDATE WILL POSSESS THE FOLLOWING EDUCATION, LICENSE/CERTIFICATIONS, AND EXPERIENCE.
LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION/REGISTRATION
Required: Pharmacy Intern Licensure. Graduating class of 2025.
EDUCATION
Required: As required by the Arizona State Board of Pharmacy for licensure as a Pharmacy Intern.
WORK EXPERIENCE
Required: Must be able to work variable shifts including nights, weekends, and holidays.
Preferred: Previous Pharmacy Intern or Technician experience.
