Job Description:
L3Harris' Communication Systems segment is currently seeking a Senior Specialist Systems Verification Engineer to join our team. This position will be based at our Salt Lake City facility.
Position Overview:
The Systems Verification Engineer will be responsible for leading the design verification of a secure communications system. The Engineer will be responsible for performing Verification Engineering tasks that establish and manage design requirements, and will verify product designs meet all operating requirements. T he Engineer will support component and subsystem level integration and testing, including working with various engineering disciplines to develop test plans and procedures/programs (manual and automated), coordinating test readiness reviews, test executions, and performing failure investigations.
Essential Responsibilities:
- Systems Verification engineering lead that organizes, participates, and manages key project/program verification tasks
- Leads requirements analysis and verification, including working with appropriate functional areas of responsibility, and manages traceability of tests back to system level requirements
- Leads generation of supporting verificaiton documentation which includes system test plans, system test procedures, and test conformance to specifications through verification cross reference matrix (VCRM)
- Ensures technical performance, quality, and adherence to established policies and processes
- Develops and presents project/program design reviews for both internal and external customer audiences
- Leads or assists in project/program schedule and budget planning, subcontract control, risk management
- Leads or assists in management over systems verification engineering team and other teams of functional design engineers
- Leads system integration, verification, and qualification events
- Participation in customer request for information (RFI), request for proposal (RFP) and new business development pursuits, including on-site and off-site technical capability demonstration
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree and minimum 6 years of prior relevant experience. Graduate Degree and a minimum of 4 years of prior related experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 10 years of prior related experience.
- A current and active US DoD Security Clearance
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in product development a plus (preferably in military application environment)
- Experience in cryptographic system development and use
- Hardware and/or Software Development program and/or lab integrations experience
- Leadership skills, with the ability to guide the technical direction/vision for a given project. Must also be a strong contributor to integrated product teams internal and external to the company
- An understanding of communication theory, with a working knowledge of digital design, RF design, mechanical design, network design, or software design of digital line-of-sight and satellite communication systems
- Experience in requirements management and documentation is a must. Other key skills are risk management, project planning, and technical project management
- Strong communication skills (both written and oral) and formal presentation skills are required
- Candidate should be skilled in the use of Word, Excel, PowerPoint, MS Project, Visio, DOORs, or similar tools
- Experience managing technical projects that include system integration, system verification, and formal qualification, including supporting integration and qualification events at customer locations
