This is a unique opportunity to join the centralized application management team in Charles Schwab’s Corporate Risk Management organization as the lead Appian developer responsible for maintaining and enhancing the New Products and Services Risk Review application built on the Appian Cloud platform. The New Products and Services Risk Review application performs a direct role in enabling Schwab to deliver innovative solutions and build lifetime relationships with clients.
The application is built on the Appian Cloud Platform (v 24.1) and is self-contained (no connected systems) except for one integration with the access management system. It utilizes 1000+ objects (including hundreds of expression rules and dozens of process models, data types, and record types) and employs a unique method of dynamically creating user groups specific to each initiative (based on user’s subject matter expertise and legal entity) that introduces some complexity to process models. The data gathered and reported by this application is used by all levels, including the most senior levels of management, to understand and manage risks associated with new products and services.
This role, along with the Application Owner/BSA, make up the two-person Agile Dev-Ops team that works closely with the New Products Program Business Owner team to understand needs and maintain the application to support the ongoing evolution of the program. As a sole Appian developer on the Dev-Ops team with full responsibility for supporting the application, your success depends highly on your ability to develop a basic understanding of the business process, including the responsibilities and basic use cases of each of the user roles, design and deliver effective solutions that solve problems and meet requirements, communicate effectively, both verbally and written, with business owner and application user stakeholders to develop trust, and stay coordinated through frequent communication with the Application Owner/BSA.
What you have Required Qualifications:
- Minimum of 5 years of experience with relational databases and SQL.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience building and delivering Appian software solutions.
- 3-5+ years of experience demonstrating the ability to continually build relationships with stakeholders to increase trust.
- 3-5+ years of experience demonstrating drive and desire to constantly learn new skills/techniques and build business and domain knowledge.
- 3-5+ years of experience demonstrating exceptional interpersonal, problem-solving, prioritization, organization, and decision-making skills in a complex business environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Appian Lead Developer Certification (or commensurate level of Appian experience).
- Experience with Appian application architecture and designing end to end solutions.
- Experience in Appian Advanced Data Design.
- Experience with data migration planning and coordination.
- Experience designing data schemas and models.
- Experience in monitoring and identifying risks from Appian health checks.
- Experience with the Atlassian set of tools for Agile project/code management (Bitbucket, Bamboo, JIRA, Confluence).
- Knowledge of software testing practices.
