Description: BASIC PURPOSE OF THE JOBThe Director of Urgent Care serves as a key member of the ETCH Ambulatory Services leadership team working collaboratively to establish and execute the Ambulatory vision and strategic plan. Responsible for all business, financial, and operational affairs of multiple assigned practices. Instrumental in setting and executing near- and long-term strategic goals and business development objectives of the PE. Identifies opportunities for business and financial improvement in order to achieve and maintain growth.

Minimum Education: Master’s Degree preferred, Bachelor’s Degree required
Minimum Work Experience: 5 years progressive administrative/managerial experience required. Urgent Care experience preferred.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES- Effectively coordinates, integrates, and provides a continuum of care for the entire care/service delivery system throughout the practices and the community that meets/exceeds programs, goals, and objectives. Plans, directs and monitors the activities of a multiple urgent care clinic(s) to ensure the promotion of the Mission, Vision, and Values and the philosophy of organization.
- Leads the development of business strategies, establishment of practice goals, delineation of financial and operational expectations, and development of a common vision consistent with the mission of ETCH. Coordinates the development, implementation, and communication of standards to ensure compliance with regulatory/facility/clinical practice, standards of care and job performance to promote optimal care deliver. Meets and maintains accreditation and regulatory standards.
- Provides administrative leadership to operations and management to promote a collaborative and productive environment working toward common, practice-wide strategic goals. Determines and makes recommendations regarding HR needs for practice plan operations, including recommendations regarding probationary actions and/or terminations.
- Reviews and approves all proposed business initiatives developed by divisions/sections to ensure that items are financially sound and consistent with practice-wide strategic goals and the mission of ETCH. Responsible for the execution and delivery of the Urgent Care strategic plan in collaboration with VP of Ambulatory Services and ETCH Executive leadership.
- Engages providers in governance and as partners to achieve service excellence, financial growth, and resolution of issues in a timely manner. Actively supports research and integrates findings into clinical and delivery of healthcare services. Responsible for effective leadership of all regulatory compliance, preparation, process, and survey.
- Reviews and approves all operational practice policies and performance guidelines in collaboration with the Medical Director, and establishes a system to consistently monitor and report performance against established benchmarks. Establishes systems and processes that ensure effective operation and coordination between clinical and support functions and referring physicians, and ensures effective clinic/physician utilization and patient throughput.
- Analyzes trends in market demand and clinical practices; evaluates alternatives for appropriateness, short- and long-term impact, and cost consequences, and presents recommendations to Executive Leadership. Maintains awareness of and communicates trends and parameters in hospital utilization, community needs, payor demands, physician references, market share, and competitor analysis.
- Oversees all healthcare facility planning functions for assigned practices, including selection and installation of capital equipment, facilities renovations, and facilities maintenance projects. Develops and maintains a comprehensive understanding of all pertinent regulations, policies, procedures, and ensures all business and financial operations remain in compliance with such regulations.
- Coordinates with relevant compliance officers and legal counsel to maintain up-to-date knowledge of all applicable regulations and standards to ensure compliance with relevant legal issues.
- Delivers effective presentations to diverse audiences on clinical, healthcare, and organizational issues of specific area of expertise. Serves as a resource and consultant to other clinical areas, medical staff, and ancillary departments. Collaborates and coordinates effectively with other individuals and departments.
- Initiates communication to ensure problems are resolved and special needs are met, as evidenced by, but not limited to, employee communication forms and incident report and patient survey response follow ups.
- Facilitates the development of workforce plans that analyze current and projected personnel requirements, competencies, and skill mix that support recruitment and retention initiatives, while ensuring ideal patient care.
- Coordinates and ensures ongoing emergency preparedness.
- Shares knowledge and skills with colleagues to enhance professional development. Willingly accepts any other assignment that may be requested.
- Develops and manages the annual operating plan and budgets to ensure cost-effective operations.
- Develops and implements action plans to ensure costs stay within acceptable financial ranges for each service within the department. Proactively evaluates program operations for potential implementation of cost effective changes.
- Manages the implementation of approved changes (e.g., in-sourcing of certain purchased services), and monitors data for cost savings, program outcomes, patient satisfaction, and physician engagement.
- Recommends way to reduce expenditures and enhance revenues without compromising quality of services.
- Evaluates and implements capital acquisitions and renovation projects, as approved by ETCH Executive Leadership

- Light lifting, pushing and pulling is required for 10-20 lbs occasionally and frequent moving of objects of less than 10 lbs is required. Frequent sitting with some walking, standing, squatting, bending and reaching is required. Keyboard/computer use and/or repetitive motions may be required.
