Position Summary:
Responsible for the oversight of the overall operations of the Surgical Services Department. This includes Inpatient Surgery, Ambulatory Surgery, Endoscopy, Central Sterile and PACU. He/she ensures that each nursing unit provides optimal patient care services; assures each unit meets all legal, regulatory, accreditation and certification requirements; and complies with all applicable policies, procedures, codes and standards of the organization. Assists in formulating budgets and adhering to established budgetary standards and directs and controls the purchase and inventory maintenance of supplies; participates in the department's planning, revenue analysis, budgeting, education, and human resources activities. Participates and ensures performance improvement activities as initiated. Monitors overall staff performance. Consults with staff, physicians and CNO to ensure issues are addressed, policies and procedures are interpreted to ensure quality patient care.
Position Qualification:
Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
BS in nursing or health related required, Master's Degree preferred.
Management training or equivalent managerial experience preferred.
Required Licenses/Certifications:
State of Florida Board of Nursing License required
Current BLS certification.
Certification in specialty area preferred
