Responsibilities
- Initiates, monitors and maintains life support systems
- Ensures department compliance within facility guidelines
- Ensures staff compliance with facility and regulatory agencies guidelines
- Oversees operations and standards of practice within the department
- Assists subordinate staff when needed
- Ensures adequate staff coverage for hours of operation
- Performs staff scheduling and develop assignment rotation
- Monitors outcomes of various respiratory care procedures
- Establishes and maintains respiratory equipment par-level and required maintenance records
- Troubleshoots equipment malfunction
- Conducts quality assurance audits
- Conducts quality control monitoring
- Aides in the development and implementation of quality improvement programs
- Performs random resident care compliance audits
- Participates in on-going educational programs to enhance clinical competency for self and staff
- Provides routine clinical care including ventilator checks, tracheostomy care, suctioning, resident evaluations, care plan development, respiratory medication delivery, supply changes and equipment management.
- Actively participates in Quality Assurance and reports concerns to supervisor.
- Interprets Company policy and makes decisions based on the application of those policies where applicable.
- Exercise unimpaired judgment in the interest of the Company.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Must be a certified or registered Respiratory Therapist
- Licensed in the state of Michigan
- Completion of a two-year accredited Respiratory Program
- Current CPR certification
- Preferred two years experience in long term care
