Job Summary
The Senior Accountant will facilitate accounting operations and perform detailed analysis and other complex tasks for corporate accounting. Their duties include assuming a leadership role to guide accounting personnel in daily tasks, reviewing financial data to make forecasting decisions, and communicating with management about financial strategies. They will act as the point of contact between junior accountants and accounting managers and directors and will enforce and monitor compliance with company-wide accounting policies and procedures.
Job Responsibilities
Oversee the Month-end close process, including ensuring all costs incurred are properly recorded, reviewing journal entries, performing account analysis, and report preparation.
Prepare trend analysis to calculate accruals and adjustments.
Manage all tasks related to cash activity, including cash application and disbursements.
Ensure compliance with internal control policies in a SOX environment.
Facilitate the preparation of monthly bank and balance sheet reconciliations, and act as the first-level reviewer prior to submission to the accounting manager.
Review & approve AP vouchers and purchase requisitions.
Coordinate accounting operations including journal entry preparation, accounts payable processing, T&E, credit card reconciliation, payroll processing, corporate allocations, balancing intercompany accounts, prepaid amortization, and fixed assets.
Supervise junior accountants.
Provide audit support - coordinate with internal and external auditors to provide applicable information for annual audits and quarterly reviews.
Coordinate and perform special projects, as assigned.
Prepare and maintain cash and expense forecast.
Contribute to improving processes and procedures that accurately capture, track, and report on financial transactions.
Ensure adherence to and communication of accounting policies and procedures.
Interact at all levels and with budget owners or other stakeholders to produce timely, efficient, and accurate month-end close.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA or equivalent certification preferred.
Minimum of 5-7 years of accounting experience, with a strong understanding of GAAP.
Proven experience in a leadership role within an accounting department.
Knowledge of SOX compliance and internal control policies.
Strong analytical skills and ability to perform detailed financial analysis.
Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact at all levels of the organization.
Ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
