Job Summary:
The Nurse Educator, in consultation and collaboration with nursing leadership and the Health Care Team, facilitates training, education and development by assessing, planning, developing, implementation, coordination and evaluation of projects and programs for staff, faculty, patient populations and the community. This is accomplished to ensure role competence, compliance with regulatory standards, and to meet organizational goals.
Responsibilities:
- Develops and coordinates curriculum/plan utilizing principles of age-appropriate learning, and effective use of resouces (human, material and technological) to meet assessed learning needs(i.e. required validation, new employee orientation, community and professional education).
- Promotes practice standards, based on appropriate research, to ensure optimal patient/population outcomes.
- Collaborates/partners with affiliated faculty to provide optimal learning experiences that support the organization's standards of care, and framework for professional practice.
- Collaborates with affiliates to facilitate training, development and education in order to ensure consistency, continuity and cost-effectiveness across the continuum.
- Maximizes the potential of the group/individual learner and educational programs by evaluating the effectiveness of instruction and modalities. This is done by observing learners, testing, simulations, documentation and patient outcomes, and revising based on results.
- Identifies, implements, and evaluates various strategies to enhance use of research-based findings by individuals in area of responsibility.
- Provide clinical leadershjp to model professional practice and maintain role accountabilities at the level of RN III.
- Demonstrates competencies, including knowledge and behaviors, to meet age specific patient needs (e.g. Pediatrics, Adolescents, Geriatrics.).
Qualifications
Requirements:
- Current Connecticut Nursing license.
- Bachelor's degree, Master's Degree required (one degree must be in Nursing).
- Demonstrated clinical competence in areas of assignment.
- Minimum 3 years of appropriate recent experience in an acute care setting.
- AHA or ARC CPR certification.
