This is a TPD (0.2 Status) variable shift Student Nurse - II position in the Education Department.

JOB SUMMARY
The nursing internship program is designed to provide nursing students the opportunity to gain hands-on experience in hospital bed-side patient care related to nursing theory and practice, clinical skills, and utilizing the nursing process to provide effective patient care. During the experience you will get exposure to patient care needs through the healthcare continuum, enrichment opportunities, networking, and student cohort connections. Assists in the individualized care of the patient to achieve the patient’s highest level of wellness. Interns are expected to be flexible in their assigned responsibilities and assist in other roles as needed or allowed.
PRIMARY (ESSENTIAL) DUTIES
- Will serve as a professional caregiver who assumes responsibility and accountability for assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating care of patients under the supervision of a Registered Nurse.
- Responsible for the appropriate utilization of resources and optimum quality of devices for positive patient outcomes.
- Analyze patient information and laboratory data.
- Triage patient issues.
- Perform patient education as appropriate and needed.
- Responsible for accurate and thorough patient charting and documentation in a timely manner.
- Works cooperatively with others as part of a team; recognizes the importance of group goals.
- Performs designated clinical procedures and nonclinical support tasks essential to providing care to the patient.
- May perform direct patient care activities for all age groups to include assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation.
- Performs duties and responsibilities in a manner consistent with our mission, core values, and Community Medical Center standards.
- Maintains confidentiality by being knowledgeable of and adhering to HIPAA regulations.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Minimum Education:
- Currently enrolled as a second-year student in an accredited nursing program; must be in good academic standing (3.0 or higher accumulative GPA).
- Knowledge of clinical terminology.
- Must be eligible to sit for the board of nursing exam in Montana following graduation.
Preferred Certification(s):
- BLS Certification upon hire
Minimum Work Experience:
- Prior work experience not required.
Preferred Work Experience:
- Experience working in a hospital or healthcare environment.

- Must have strong interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills.
- Effective human relations skills are required for interfacing with team members, all levels of staff, physicians, patients, families, and other contacts.
- Must possess the ability to effectively function in a stressful environment.
- Must have the ability to handle confidential information with great sensitivity.
- Must have the ability to work with limited supervision and highly motivated to complete tasks timely.
- Requires critical thinking skills and decisive judgment.
