Preferred Skills & Exper Description: Job general supervision, provides PICC Line Placement and Infusion education in the PICC program. Essential Responsibilities: Responsibilities listed in this section are core to the position. Inability to perform these responsibilities with or without an accommodation may result in disqualification from the position. -Consults on special patient cases where a need for PICC (Peripherally Inserted Central Catheter) Line placement and instruction has been identified. -Establishes a treatment plan for patients and their families to follow. -Serves as a resource person for medical and hospital staff regarding PICC placement and education. -Consults with healthcare team on complication management. -Assumes responsibility for an assigned group of patients. -Documents patient responses to nursing interventions and prescribed medical treatments; notes all changes in physician order on assigned patients. -Obtains and monitors physiological data of patients. -Observes the physiological manifestations of patients and intervenes when necessary. -Interacts with family and patient regarding care plan while in the hospital and at time of discharge. -Informs patient and family of hospital procedures. -Makes referral regarding patient care needs to appropriate personnel. Preferred Skills & Experience: -Two (2) year experience with Pediatric PICC Line placement, VA-BC (Vascular Access-Board Certified) preferred. Required Certifications & Licensure:-Current RN License issued by the Oklahoma State Board of Nursing, or a current multistate compact RN License (eNLC). -Current Basic Life Support issued by the American Heart Association required upon hire. -Require Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) American Heart Association certification when caring for the pediatric patient population.
