Job Description The Semi-Automated Forces Operator position supports the Army Training Aids, Devices, Simulators and Simulations Maintenance Program (ATMP) contract at Fort Wainwright, Alaska. The SAF Operator assists the customer by operating TADSS workstations and providing familiarization training, primarily in Aviation Combined Arms Tactical Trainer (AVCATT/NCM3) sets.
Semi-Automated Forces Operator job duties include:
- Operates workstations including After Action Review (AAR), Semi-Automated Forces (SAF), and other control consoles.
- Conducts PMCS of equipment and assist technicians with repairs.
- May travel to Army locations to support training.
- Operates the system, resolves common error conditions, and diagnoses and acts on machine stoppage and error conditions not fully covered by existing procedures and guidelines (e.g., resetting switches and other controls or making mechanical adjustments to maintain or restore equipment operations).
- In response to computer output instructions or error conditions, the SAF Operator may deviate from standard procedures if standard procedures do not provide a solution and refers problems which do not respond to corrective procedures to a person of supervisory or higher individual contributor level.
- Assists with installation, set-up and tear-down of AVCATT training devices in other locations.
Job Requirements Semi-Automated Forces Operator Job Requirements
- Subject Matter Expert on AVCATT/NCM3.
- Prefer minimum three years past experience with working on the AVCATT/NCM3 or related trainer.
- Must be able to obtain/maintain a valid state driver’s license and maintain post/company driving privileges.
- Must be able to lift a maximum of 50lbs and wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Must be able to read and have advanced knowledge of governing supply systems, programs, policies, nomenclature, work methods, manufacturers' manuals and technical documents.
- Must be able to work outside including in inclement weather.
- Must be able to hold a Secret level clearance.
- Must be able to obtain a Government Common Access Card (CAC).
- Must be able to travel on temporary duty to other installations including OCONUS.
- Must be able to work occasional shift, night, weekend, or holiday hours in support of military training.
- High School Diploma or Equivalent.
- Must be a U.S. citizen.
