Our Global Engineering Strategy team is growing to match an ever-expanding need for data storage by our customers. Due to this growth, we need a collaborative, organized, and innovative Acoustical Design Engineer (ADE) to execute acoustical studies. Project work will consist of overseeing and performing sound surveys, acoustical modeling, and mitigation design. This role will require you to apply your skills to collaborate and innovate new acoustical strategies and designs for AWS Projects. Additional duties include answering construction Requests for Information, developing acoustical Scopes of Work, and writing technical documents.
As a subject matter expert, you will develop acoustical design solutions and influence test fit optimization prior to project turnover to Design Engineering. As part of this role you will work with internal and external stakeholders, including design engineers, due diligence vendors, construction, commissioning, operations, vendors, and other service providers. You will be part of a global team, and you will be an integral part of our work to change the world through technology.
Key job responsibilities
• Manage acoustical studies of projects including surveys, modelling, and mitigation design.
• Work with third party design vendors to review concept designs and designs in progress to ensure they meet established acoustic design standards, local code requirements, and any other requirements of the Authorities Having Jurisdiction.
• Be responsible for providing high quality acoustic engineering advice on a wide variety of projects globally while working with global engineering teams to achieve alignment of designs and design objectives.
• Performing acoustical modelling on a variety of data centers and supporting infrastructure.
• Innovating improvement of acoustic design standards and project approaches across the organization.
• Support adjustment to masterplan efforts
• Drive project conversations and considerations around acoustical design.
• Develop acoustical design solutions and influence test fit optimization prior to project turnover to Design Engineering.
• This position will require up to 25% travel.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS • Bachelor's degree in Electrical/Mechanical engineering/Architect or relevant discipline.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in design engineering or the construction industry, related to all aspects of acoustics, including sound mitigation strategies for mechanical equipment.
• Strong knowledge of acoustics industry standards, procedures, and methodologies.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS • Bachelor's degree in Electrical/Mechanical engineering/Architect or relevant discipline.
• Experience using CadnaA/R, Sound Plan or other acoustic modelling software.
• Experience with performance-based alternatives to prescriptive acoustics and sound mitigation and design.

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $128,600/year in our lowest geographic market up to $212,800/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
