Position Summary
As an Estimator to play a critical role in project execution by visiting job sites to gather essential information and generate accurate quotes within specified deadlines. Your responsibilities encompass a range of duties, including performing site visits, developing project plans, capturing, and tracking additional work, and maintaining effective communication with field personnel. You will collaborate with the stakeholders to create project timelines, select the appropriate foreman for each project, and ensure timely procurement of purchase order numbers for subcontractor hiring. Your role also involves coordinating with Shop Foremen, approving project-related documentation, and stepping in to fill the Shop Foreman's role when necessary.
Key Responsibilities
- Accurately estimate labor, material, equipment, trucking, and other related costs for turnkey rigging/ machinery relocation projects of all sizes within a specified time frame.
- Perform site visits to obtain project details to create a detailed scope of work.
- Develop, write, and communicate detailed scopes of work for specified rigging projects
- Identify competitive strategies and follow through to project award
- When project is awarded, work closely with dispatch to schedule personnel with the proper skill-sets to complete the project with maximum efficiency.
- Verify and approve daily electronic job tickets submitted by field personnel to confirm accuracy of time, materials, and equipment used
- Identify and capture change orders, or opportunities for additional work with the respective account manager
- Provide technical assistance to onsite leads prior to the job start, and throughout each job as necessary.
- See through each awarded project from start to finish, documenting progression along the way.
- Take after-hours calls as needed to dispatch personnel/ manage off-shift work being completed if need be.
Required Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience in the crane and rigging industry.
- Proficiency in crane and rigging equipment, tools, and machinery.
- Proven experience in project estimation and quoting.
- Ability to perform thorough site visits for accurate project assessment.
- Strong project management skills to oversee projects from start to finish.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong problem-solving abilities for addressing challenges during projects.
- Commitment to safety and adherence to safety regulations.
- Attention to detail in approving project-related documentation.
