Avera is currently seeking Registered Nurses (RN) looking to deliver the best possible nursing care in Avera’s patient-focused settings.

Job Summary
- Care for critically and chronically ill patients and create a supportive environment.
- Educate patients about treatment options, procedures and particularities of the disease and keep up to date with new treatment methods.
- Assess patient’s physical and emotional conditions, medical history, health habits and practices and document in patient’s medical record.
- Triage patient problems and assist in the evaluation of symptoms and initiation of interventions as ordered by the physician or nurse practitioner.
- Administer subcutaneous, intramuscular, and intravenous medications as ordered using the correct medication, dosage/amount, route, time and technique.
- Proficient in technical skills as follows but not limited to: venipuncture, IV starts, access and maintenance of implanted ports, Hickman catheters, intraperitoneal ports and PICC lines. Able to assist physician or nurse practitioner with intrathecal chemotherapy administration and lumbar punctures.
Education and/or Experience
- Graduate from an accredited nursing program.
- A minimum of one year of oncology nursing experience is desirable, but not required.
Licensure/Certification/Registration
- Current license from the State of South Dakota Board of Nursing.
- CPR certification required.
- OCN and ACLS certifications preferred.
Work Schedule
- Monday –Friday, 7:00am – 4:00pm; 48 hours every 2 weeks

The hourly range for this position is listed below. Actual hourly rate dependent upon experience.
