What We Are Looking For:
We are looking for an altruistic, eager, and astute individual to fill the role of a Professional Engineer who will provide relationship-driven guidance and solutions to our utility clients in South Dakota and neighboring States. The candidate must be passionate in supporting electrical systems and the communities they serve to advance society for the good of all, see every complex project as a chance to make a mark on the future, and provide clear balanced guidance needed for long-term success.
What You Will Be Doing:
- Manage utility client relationships in South Dakota and neighboring states.
- Maintain ongoing communications with and support to utility clients on the health and performance of their corresponding electrical distribution system.
- Provide clients with technical operation support, including, but not limited to, developing switching procedures, motor starting analysis, equipment sizing and specifications, system maintenance, system reliability, relay and control settings, and power quality investigations.
- Direct or participate in developing utility infrastructure plans (both short- and long-term planning horizons).
- Direct or participate in developing coordination/sectionalizing studies and provide recommendations for improved sectionalizing schemes.
- Direct or participate in developing miscellaneous utility studies including, but not limited to, distributed energy resource system impact studies, arc flash hazard analysis, power factor correction, and system reliability.
- Direct or participate in programming field equipment controls and relays.
- Conduct work order inspections to support National Electrical Safety Code compliance and best industry practices.
- Direct or participate in the design and staking of electric distribution facilities.
- Direct or participate in the design of substations.
- Provide leadership, mentorship, and coaching to direct reports and less experienced colleagues within the organization.

What You Will Need:
- The candidate shall be self-motivated and have experience in the operations and engineering of electric distribution systems.
- High level of interpersonal, problem-solving, leadership, and organizational skills.
- Possess the ability to achieve quality results, be change-oriented, foster innovation, and be a continuous learner.
- Possess the ability to continually identify and recommend process and/or system improvements to facilitate efficiencies.
- Exceptional communication skills, including presenting in front of large audiences.
- Works well on teams and individually.
- Experience with Milsoft, CYME, Synergi Electric, or other similar engineering analysis tools.
- Working knowledge of the NESC, RUS, ANSI, and applicable IEEE standards.
Position Requirements:
- The candidate must have a BSEE with a minimum of 4 years of working experience in the electric power industry.
- The candidate must have an active professional engineer license and become licensed in South Dakota.
