Job Summary
- In a patient care setting, the Respiratory Therapist will perform specific duties and responsibilities as outlined below. Under medical supervision, the individual will be required to deliver respiratory care and cardiology services to patients from neonatal to geriatric age and in all areas of the hospital, both inpatient and outpatient.
- Competency standards of performance that are required for that area to which the practitioner is assigned must be maintained as per policy.
- The Respiratory Therapist may be required at times to supervise and be responsible for the work of other respiratory care practitioners and EKG technicians. The practitioner may be assigned to orientation and in-service education.
- The Respiratory Therapist is responsible to the Respiratory Care/ Neurodiagnostics Supervisor. The practitioner works under the supervision of the Medical Director for Cardiopulmonary Services or other special Care areas and carries out assigned duties and responsibilities according to the policies, procedures, and standards approved by the Medical Director.
