Life Cycle Engineering (LCE) is responsible for ensuring our products are Safe, Reliable, Maintainable and delivered on time. Life Cycle Engineering consists of multiple disciplines that support engineering, our program offices and our customers. Our Life Cycle Engineering disciplines participate in the total life cycle of our products from conception to deactivation. Our focus area is product support, including the following disciplines: Reliability System Safety and Supportability.
Job Summary:
We’re an employee-focused team collaborating across departments, including Engineering, Environmental Health & Safety, Supply Chain, Operations, Test & Integration and Production.
As a Principal Reliability Engineer, you will support Raytheon’s programs by pursuing synergies between the technical disciplines. Your responsibilities include creating the optimal design in terms of Performance, Reliability, Availability and Maintainability per dollar invested.
You’ll support new design proposals for our customers as well as provide support for manufacturing and existing and/or fielded programs.
You’ll also provide leadership in collaborations with Program Management and government approval authorities from program startup through production to demilitarization and disposal backgrounds
As part of our Tucson, AZ based team your responsibilities will Include:
- Conducting Reliability, Availability, and Maintainability (RAM) analyses, including Sneak Circuit Analyses.
- Performing Failure Modes Effects and Criticality Analyses (FMECA)
- Interpreting data and analyzing results
- Supporting Failure Review Boards (FRB)
- Supporting the proposal process in developing Basis of Estimate (BOE) for reliability work
- Other grade-consistent duties as assigned
This job is based at Raytheon’s Tucson, AZ facility and is posted as ONSITE.
Responsibilities to Anticipate:
- Assessing RAM performance: Mean Time Between Failure (MTBF), Mean Time Between Critical Failure (MTBCF) & Operational Availability (Ao)
- Defining / allocating RAM requirements
- Performing Reliability & Maintainability predictions
- Performing Reliability modeling
- Performing Failure Modes Effects Criticality Analysis (FMECA)
- Performing FRACAS tasks, including trend analysis and failure investigations
- Supporting Reliability Test Planning and Execution: Accelerated, Growth, Demonstration
- Ensuring performance compliance to requirements
- Mentoring junior engineers
- The ability to obtain and maintain Top Secret Clearance
- The ability to obtain and maintain Special Access Program clearance
Domestic & International travel may be required – limited durations (approximately 25% domestic and 10% international)
Basic Qualifications:
- Typically Requires: Bachelor's degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Math (STEM). Electrical Engineering degree preferred. Minimum 8 years of relevant Engineering experience. An advanced degree may account for additional years of experience as required for this position.
- Experience with Reliability Engineering (including reliability analysis, failure investigations, and/or root cause/corrective action (RCCA))
- Leadership experience
- Active and transferable U.S. government issued Secret security clearance is required prior to start date. U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance
Preferred Qualifications:
- Knowledge of FMECA (Failure Mode and Effects Analysis)
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to collect, organize, analyze, and disseminate significant amounts of information with attention to detail and accuracy
- Functional Knowledge of statistics or using statistical packages for data analysis (e.g. Excel)
- Ability to develop solutions to technical problems
- Self-motivated and detail-oriented; ability to perform in fast paced, deadline driven environments with constantly changing priorities
- Strong and effective organizational skills with ability prioritize tasks; ability to respond efficiently and effectively to time-critical issues
- Ability to follow defined processes, in compliance with regulations
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Strong experience working on a team
- Electrical Engineering or Sneak Circuit Analysis experience
- Electrical Engineering degree / education preferred

The salary range for this role is 96,000 USD - 200,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels.
