An exciting opportunity has opened for a Principal Semiconductor Reliability Engineer to join our Advanced Microelectronic Solutions Department (AMSD) at Raytheon in Andover, MA.
AMSD develops, designs, and manufactures compound semiconductor devices, microwave/millimeter-wave integrated circuits, and modules for defense applications. Your subject matter technical expertise in reliability, modeling, testing, semiconductor physics, and applied statistics is key to the success on this role. As a lead engineer, you will need to communicate efficiently and effectively, and you’ll also need to demonstrate strong ownership and accountability.
What You Will Do:
Own end-to-end reliability tasks (plan, design, test, analysis, report) and demonstrate strong initiatives to go above and beyond.
Interact frequently with a team of process engineers, technology owners, and project leads.
Reliability test planning and execution, data modeling and producing key metrics such as MTTF, failure rates, safe operating conditions, and corresponding confidence bounds. Therefore, a fundamental understanding of reliability statistics will be necessary.
Handling compound semiconductor transistors, passive components, and monolithic microwave integrated circuits (MMICs).
Interacting with probe stations and multiple reliability testing systems (DC and RFOL).
Lead reliability efforts that support wafer foundry’s new technology development, new tool qualification, and reliability-oriented design rule verification and development.
Initiate and report failure analysis of components from reliability testing.
This 1st shift role will be 100% on-site and based in Andover, MA.
Qualifications You Must Have:
Typically requires a Bachelor’s degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum 8 years’ of prior work experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 5 years’ of prior work experience.
Reliability testing and characterization experience in the semiconductor field.
Experience in the design and execution of reliability test plans for semiconductor devices (e.g., under accelerated stress conditions).
Experience with data analysis and reliability modeling.
Experience with applied statistics in the reliability field.
Experience with statistical analysis software tools (e.g., JMP, MATLAB, etc).
The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance is required. U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.
Qualifications We Prefer:
Advanced degree in STEM or statistics.
Solid state device physics experience.
Semiconductor wafer fab processing experience.
Project management experience.
Failure analysis experience with SEM, FIB, STEM, etc.
Experience in the RF field.
Experience with lab tools such as probe stations, curve tracers, Keithly/Agilent equipment.
Experience with programming/scripting.
Experience with related industry standards such as JEDEC, MIL.

The salary range for this role is 96,000 USD - 200,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
