The Senior Rail Logistics Coordinator is responsible for managing our fleet of rail cars and logistics of transporting material from our yards to their final destinations. This vital role ensures a smooth process by prioritizing compliance and communication throughout the transport.
Role Responsibilities: - Work directly with railroad to schedule the release of cars and shipments for scheduled pickup.
- Ensure compliance with commodity weight regulations for rail movements.
Negotiate rail rates for unit trains and manifest cars across 8 US facilities.
Act as a liaison between the company and carriers, facilitating communication regarding demurrage, processes, and deviations.
Manage, budget, and order additional rail equipment as needed (manifest cars).
Send rail reports to receiving/shipping facilities in a timely manner.
Serve as the primary approver for rail bill requests.
Analyze logistics data, identify and predict deviations from processes, and implement procedural changes to enhance efficiency and capitalize on opportunities.
Education/Experience: - Bachelor's degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.
- Experience with export documentation processes is required.
Experience with unit trains, railroads, data tracking, and knowledge of rail software.
Proven experience in negotiating rates and contracts.
Proficiency in generating reports and tracking logistics data.
Knowledge of industry trends and regulations.
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and other relevant software programs.
