I. Summary The Weighmaster is responsible for providing customer service to customers crossing the scale with incoming and outgoing scrap metal shipments. Duties include accurately creating tickets in a timely manner, properly grading the incoming material, and directing customers on and off the scales. This career requires experience of providing a high level of customer service, excellent attention to detail, and the ability to work independently as well as in a team environment.
II. Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Responsible for weighing and ticketing incoming customers across scales.
- Accurately creates tickets in a timely manner through Weighmaster software.
- Directs customers on and off the scales to maintain an even flow of traffic.
- Properly grades the customer's incoming materials.
- Provides exceptional customer service on a daily basis.
- Responsible for ticketing and dispatching of sold material.
- Monitors purchased material as well as inspects loads for quality assurance purposes.
- Ensures that all materials are acceptable prior to purchasing.
- Reports any problems or discrepancies to the Depot Manager.
- Other job duties as assigned.
III. Required Skills / Abilities
- Excellent communication both written and verbal.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment.
- Strong critical thinking and problem solving skills.
- Ability to lift up to 20 lbs.
IV. Education & Experience
- High school diploma or GED-equivalent preferred.
- At least one year of customer service experience.
- Prior scrap metal industry experience preferred.
V. Other Job Demands Work is generally performed outdoors in all-weather elements such as hot, cold, rain, or snow and personal protective equipment is required. Working hours may vary and evening or weekend work may be required. You may be required to lift and carry light weights.
