harge Nurse - Emergency Department
The Charge Nurse supervises all nursing activities related to patient care and sets standards for accurate reporting and recording of patients' symptoms, reactions and progress. Organizes patient care and ensures continuity of care based on knowledge of clinical nursing needs of patients. The CN also administers nursing care to patients, as needed, to maintain clinical skills, to assess particular patient requirements, or as back-up to Staff Nurse
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:
- Graduate from an accredited school of Nursing; baccalaureate or master's degree in Nursing preferred.
- Licensed and currently registered as a professional nurse in the State of Illinois.
- Two to five years of clinical experience
- Demonstrated leadership abilities; able to maintain composure during crisis intervention; and possesses a good oral and written communication skills
- Establishes and maintains interpersonal relationships with patients, visitors and other hospital personnel, while assuring confidentially of patient information
- Attend basic EKG competence course. Demonstrates knowledge in Telemetry patient care.
- Proven experience as a Charge Nurse or in a similar leadership role
- Proficient in basic life support techniques and IV insertion
- Strong attention to detail and excellent organizational skills
- Ability to effectively communicate with patients, families, and healthcare professionals
- Ability to work well under pressure and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment
