As a Network Engineer Lead you will be an expert at network engineering principles and best practices, solution design, design architecture, emerging technologies, cross platform troubleshooting techniques, and layer 1 to 7 testing approaches.
Job Description
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Network Engineer to join our IT team. This position will be full-time, Hybrid, and is a contract position, renewed semi annually.
What You'll Do
Produce technical architecture, roadmaps and designs for functional networks (LAN, WLAN, WAN, SD-LAN/WAN, CLOUD)
Leads Network architecture decisions
Working with coding/scripting/automation/orchestration platforms (Python, Ansible), including interfacing with APIs
Maintaining and configuring Virtual Private Networking (i.e., MPLS, GRE, L2VPN, EVPN, Pseudowire, IPsec, MACSEC)
Work closely with application, server, security, infrastructure and operations teams, effectively communicating and managing customer expectations
Provide enterprise architecture technical leadership for global initiatives and implementation collaboration with project and operations teams
Identify opportunities to innovate, extend and enhance service delivery in the SME areas
Serves as escalation point for system administration hands on work in the SME areas
Hands on R&D / POC work for evaluating new technologies
Serves as escalation point for support and troubleshooting, provides guidance and direction in resolution of escalated application or system problems.
Create and maintain system documentation for solution design, domain technologies
Improve existing processes through solutions to recurring problems and enhancements to existing solutions or documentation.
Developing architecture processes using industry best practices
Strong technical leadership and communications skills including teamwork, facilitation, and coordination to ensure successful creation of roadmaps.
What You'll Need
Required:
Minimum of 8 years of relevant experience combined
5+ years experience as a Network Engineer, designing, implementing, deploying and supporting a production network at an enterprise scale
Ability to take responsibility for fostering culture, advancing our values, and championing engagement in all its forms collaborating across our teams
Ability to apply out of the box thinking about creative ways to use Cloud services and SDN services to provide the best infrastructure options
Development experience with cloud platforms, orchestration, and VNF managers a plus
Evidence of effective communication and relationship skills, especially the ability to articulate advanced technical topics to both technical and non-technical staff
Working knowledge in multi-vendor infrastructure platforms (i.e., Aruba / HP, Cisco, Meraki, Silver Peak, Zscaler, Peplink)
Experience presenting to senior leadership
Knowledge of Open Standard routing and switching protocols (i.e., BGP, OSFP, VRRP, MLAG, STP)
Experience with networking technologies: Virtual Private LAN Services (VPLS), Virtual Extensible LAN (VXLAN), high availability (HA) and resiliency architectures
Knowledge of data center architectures and converged networks and current networking trends, including commercial implementations of Software Defined Networks (SDN) for both Data Center Network and WAN applications
Experience with Load balancing and Application Delivery Controller technologies and implementations
Knowledge of WAN architectures (i.e., Carrier Ethernet, Optical Fabrics (OTN), SD-WAN, MPLS)
Knowledge of Network monitoring tools (i.e., NetScout, Wireshark, Solarwinds, Cisco Call Manager, Wireshark, and Splunk)
Knowledge of Network Boundary (Next Generation Firewalls (Palo Alto, Fortinet), IPSEC/SSL VPN Concentrators)
Evidence of technical certifications preferred (e.g., CCNA, CCNP, CCIE, ACE-A, SEC+)
Ability to work with a limited set of requirements
Evidence of desire to mentor colleagues, drive new architectures, and lead team efforts
Experience in cybersecurity engineering, network intelligence and operations, and machine learning are highly desired
Ability to model empathy, compassion, and emotional intelligence

Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Information Systems, or related field AND twelve years' of related experience, which includes five years of supervisory experience; OR, Any equivalent combination of experience and/or education from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved.
Must be willing to travel up to 75%
