Position Summary
This position will coordinate and deliver nutritional information to students at an independent school in the Boston area and provide operational support to the school programs. The preferred candidate will have a background in allergies, healthy eating, and nutrition trends and be able to influence student groups with nutritional knowledge and education. This position should avoid providing nutritional advice and/or guidance for individuals or groups suffering from medical conditions and avoid providing nutritional advice and food intake recommendations for those individuals or group that are on a prescribed drug treatment plan by their physician. Should a conflict occur, report this to the General Manager.
Responsibilities
Deliver health and wellness instruction to the school community via tabling activities and small or large group sessions.
Promote the value of nutrition for performance to students on-site.
Develop and deliver practical, educational, entertaining, and age-appropriate nutrition content to groups and individuals of high school age who participate in various sports.
Present the community with nutrition strategies and guidance on eating a balanced diet, minimizing processed food consumption, and developing healthy habits.
Provide students with information on healthy eating, wise nutrition habits, identifying food groups, and building a nutritious and balanced plate.
Tailor the message accordingly to a broad client base that includes youth athletes from a range of sports, cultures, and countries.
Assist with menu development by identifying potential allergens and suggestions for improving meals' nutrient content/value.
Experience building menu & catering needs for athletes to maximize athletic performance.
Strong classroom management skills to facilitate a conducive learning environment.
Remain updated on recent findings provided in the field, including scientific journals, magazines, or other literature related to health and nutrition.
Collaborate with corporate support to offer insight and develop programming specific to physical activity/student-athletes.
Occasionally, this position maybe called upon to perform other duties not listed here.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in dietetics or nutrition-related field
Credentialed as a Registered Dietitian by the Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR)
Board Certified Specialist in Sports Dietetics (CSSD) preferred.
Minimum of 2 years of experience in the field of dietetics within a school or education setting
Experience working with a youth population.
Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to engage the student population
Excellent organizational and time management skills
Excellent verbal, written, and presentation skills
Demonstrated ability to influence and motivate team members and customers positively
Technology proficiency to include Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Powerpoint)
Preferred experience in food, retail, culinary industries, or private school/higher education settings.
