Job Description About the role: The Senior Calibration Technician will train and motivate technicians to meet the demands of the Metrology Department, represent the department in meetings, and implement internal department projects.
You will operate, maintain, and repair calibration test equipment; understand automated control systems and control system instrumentation concepts, and the relationship between each other; understand the operation, maintain, modify, and high-level troubleshooting of Steam sterilizers (Autoclaves). You will also initiate corrective actions to ensure potentially hazard situations are avoided and safety standards are maintained relative to production or facilities.
You will report to a Maintenance Specialist in IG Operations at our Social Circle, GA manufacturing facility.
How you will contribute: • Lead, instruct, and train technicians to meet the demands of the Metrology department.
• Represent and communicate for the department in a meeting setting.
• Deploy internal department projects.
• Have technical understanding and advanced troubleshooting skills of electrical and pneumatic instrumentation.
• Perform installation and modifications, or work together with Engineering, Maintenance, Process Control, or outside contractors on new installations and modifications.
• Understand and perform calibrations on Temperature, Pressure, Conductivity, UV, Balances, Scales, Vacuum, pH, CL2, ORP, Timers, RPM, Liquid/Gas Flow, Gas detector instrumentation.
• Operate, maintain, and repair of calibration test equipment.
• Understand automated control systems and control system instrumentation concepts, and the relationship between each other.
• Understand the operation, maintain, modify, and high-level troubleshooting of Steam sterilizers (Autoclaves).
• Initiate corrective action to ensure potentially hazard situations are avoided and safety standards are maintained relative to production or facilities.
• Prepare and maintain accurate records and reports per Standard Operating Procedures.
• Responsible for planning/scheduling and performing instrumentation calibrations under the Metrology program.
• Understanding of PLC, Microprocessor, and control system logic.
• Ability to read and interpret Loop, P&ID, Wire, and Electrical drawings.
• Ability to spec out like for like or like non like for like instrumentation, to meet manufacturing process requirements.
• Perform planning and scheduling for calibrations for their assigned area.
• Approve Calibration Reports and Instrument Status Update Reports.
• Verify Out of Tolerance Conditions.
• Help review the System Specification and Piping Identification Drawing verifications.
• Provide feedback across the functional team.
• Work with customers when the supervisor is not available.
• Oversee work performed by team members to ensure execution, resource allocation and complete, accurate documentation.
What You Bring to Takeda: • Typically requires high school diploma or GED. 4+ years of experience.
• Can read wiring diagrams, loop drawings and P&ID drawings.
• Knowledge of cGMP manufacturing and basic laboratory and pharmaceutical production equipment including: autoclaves, process tanks, incubators, analytical equipment, and CIP/SIP systems.
• Knowledge of basic chemical and biological safety procedures.
• Can correctly complete high school-level mathematics; be proficient in several mathematical disciplines and be able to work with both the metric and USA standards of measurement.
• Can converse in English; can read and follow detailed written instructions.
• Knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel.
• Be able to work in a team environment.
• Be results-oriented and dedicated to quality.
• Must have focus on rapid and disciplined action.
Important Considerations At Takeda, our patients rely on us to deliver quality products. As a result, we must follow strict rules in our manufacturing facilities to ensure we are not endangering the quality of the product. You may:
- May wear personal protective equipment (PPE) and other clean room garments daily. This may include safety shoes, safety glasses, aprons, face shields, lab coats, full body gowns, hair nets and gloves and hearing protection.
- Need to remove all make-up, jewelry, contact lenses, nail polish and artificial fingernails while in the manufacturing environment.
- Work in a cold, wet environment.
- Work multiple shifts, including weekends, or be asked to work supplemental hours,.
- Work around chemicals such as alcohol, acids, buffers and Celite that may require respiratory protection.

U.S. Hourly Wage Range: $22.55 - $35.43
