Overview: The Registered Nurse (RN) will utilize the nursing process to independently deliver nursing care to patients in order to achieve quality outcomes and communicates need for guidance/supervision based on self-assessment of strengths and limitations. The RN assesses, plans, implements, documents, organizes, prioritize, delegates, supervises, and coordinates the care of patients as prescribed within the parameters of the NC Nurse Practice Act and hospital complex. System Wide Float RNs are required to float to all Healthcare System Acute Care Facilities and scheduled in departments in which they have competencies. They can also be placed in a department other than their competency level with a modified assignment. Assignments to a specific department can be in the form of a contract (from 1-12 weeks duration) or on a shift by shift basis. The assigned work location will be based on patient care need and clinical competency. The goal of this position is to maximize the utilization of staff resources in order to promote optimal patient care. The job requires the employee to support patient care needs at every hospital campus. Employee must have transportation to travel to, from, and between these work locations.

Implements a plan of care for each patient (utilizing clinical pathways where applicable) and individualizes to meet the age specific needs of patients/significant others. Documents and updates the plan of care, nursing care, nursing interventions and patient response to care, and keeps healthcare team, patients and significant other informed. EDUCATION: Required:
Associate Degree of Nursing from an Accredited Institution of Learning is required.
Preferred:
Bachelor of Science in Nursing from an Accredited Institution of Learning is highly preferred on hire.
EXPERIENCE: Required:
Minimum of at least 2 years of clinical practice as a Registered Nurse in an acute care facility (not including orientation) with 2 years in a clinical specialty as defined by ANCC or national nursing organizations.
LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION/REGISTRY/LISTING: REQUIRED
RN Registered Nurse licensed in North Carolina or a Compact state.
BLS (CPR)-American Red Cross or AHA Healthcare Provider
