Job Summary: The Senior Demand Planner is a strategic role responsible for overseeing the development and execution of demand forecasts and planning processes. This position ensures the alignment of inventory levels with customer demand, minimizes supply chain disruptions, and supports the company's growth objectives. The Senior Demand Planner collaborates closely with cross-functional teams to drive continuous improvement in forecasting accuracy and supply chain efficiency.
Key Responsibilities:
Forecasting and Demand Planning:
- Lead the development and maintenance of accurate demand forecasts using advanced statistical models, historical data, and market trends.
- Integrate inputs from sales, marketing, finance, and other departments into the forecasting process.
- Monitor, analyze, and adjust forecasts based on real-time sales data, market conditions, and customer feedback.
Inventory and Supply Chain Management:
- Ensure optimal inventory levels to meet customer demand while minimizing excess and obsolete stock.
- Collaborate with procurement, production, and logistics teams to address supply chain disruptions and mitigate risks.
- Conduct regular inventory reviews and implement strategies to improve inventory turnover and reduce carrying costs.
Data Analysis and Reporting:
- Perform in-depth analysis of demand patterns, sales trends, and market data to identify opportunities for improvement.
- Generate and present regular and ad-hoc reports on forecast accuracy, inventory performance, and other key metrics to senior management.
- Provide actionable insights and recommendations to support business decisions and strategic planning.
Process Improvement and Best Practices:
- Identify and implement process improvements to enhance demand planning accuracy and efficiency.
- Stay updated on industry best practices, tools, and technologies to continuously improve forecasting and planning capabilities.
- Lead and participate in training and development programs to enhance team skills and knowledge.
Collaboration and Communication:
- Work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure alignment between demand forecasts and business objectives.
- Communicate forecast changes, risks, and opportunities to relevant stakeholders.
- Participate in and lead sales and operations planning (S&OP) meetings to provide insights and support decision-making.
Leadership and Mentoring:
- Mentor and coach junior demand planners and other team members.
- Provide guidance and support to ensure the development of a high-performing demand planning team.
- Foster a culture of collaboration, continuous improvement, and accountability within the team.
Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Statistics, or a related field. A master's degree or professional certification (e.g., APICS, CPIM) is preferred.
- Experience: 4+ years of experience in demand planning, forecasting, or a related role within supply chain management. Experience in a senior or leadership role is a plus.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in demand planning software (e.g., SAP APO, Oracle Demantra) and advanced Excel skills. Strong knowledge of statistical forecasting methods and tools.
- Analytical Skills: Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex data and provide actionable insights.
- Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present data and recommendations clearly and concisely.
- Interpersonal Skills: Strong ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams and build strong relationships with stakeholders.
