We are currently looking for an experienced
Supplier Quality Manager to join us at our Sun Prairie Innovation Center! In this role you will be responsible for ensuring the quality of products and services provided by external suppliers. In addition, you'll spearhead the development and maintenance of robust supplier quality assessment and management protocols. Collaborating closely with manufacturing, engineering, and product management teams, you'll ensure resolution of component quality events, ensure verifiable product requirements, and develop ongoing metric reviews. You will help to foster collaborative relationships with our suppliers, facilitating an environment of mutual trust and cooperation to drive continuous improvement, innovation, and customer satisfaction.
This position will require both domestic and international travel.Responsibilities - Develop and implement supplier quality management strategies, policies, and procedures to ensure adherence to quality standards, regulations, and customer requirements.
- Lead supplier qualification and approval processes, including conducting on-site and remote supplier audits, evaluations, performance assessments, and improvement initiatives.
- Support product or component qualification through partnering with our internal and external stakeholders to implement APQP and a PPAP process.
- Establish and maintain key performance indicators (KPIs) to monitor supplier quality performance and drive improvement efforts.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including procurement, engineering, and manufacturing, to address supplier quality issues and implement corrective actions in a timely manner.
- Coordinate and drive Supplier Corrective Action (SCAR) activities to completion, including evaluation of FMEAs and control plans, RCA, and validation of improvement effectiveness.
- Drive continuous improvement in supplier quality through the implementation of quality tools, methodologies, and best practices.
- Conduct regular reviews and analysis of supplier quality data to identify trends, root causes of quality issues, and opportunities for improvement.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for supplier quality-related inquiries, issues, and escalations.
- Establish and maintain effective communication channels with suppliers to ensure alignment on quality objectives, expectations, and improvement initiatives.
- Stay current with industry trends, regulations, and best practices related to supplier quality management.
- Help to scope supplier quality resource requirements to support future growth.
Qualifications - Bachelor's degree in engineering, quality management, or a related fields
- 7+ years of engineering or management level experience in supplier quality, supply chain, and/or quality management.
- Proven technical auditing experience including understanding FMEAs, control plans, process flow, GR&R, and determining audit scope to maximize supplier improvement audits while reducing risk with global supplier locations.
- Highly proficient in APQP and PPAP requirements and execution.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with experience in statistical analysis and the use of quality tools for RCA and problem solving.
- Ability to lead cross-functional teams and influence stakeholders at all levels.
- Strong project management skills with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Proficiency in quality management tools and methodologies (e.g., Six Sigma, Lean) is required. Lean black belt is preferred.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.
- Certification in quality management (e.g., CQE, CQM) is a plus.
- Experience traveling abroad required.
- The ability to travel up to 40% of the time, both domestic and international.
