Job Description
Summary
The Foreman will directly supervise and coordinate the activities of all workers engaged in asphalt, seal coating, crack sealing and lot marking repairs and will evaluate their performance. The Foreman will perform tasks involving physical labor at parking lots by operating one or several types of maintenance equipment, such as a pave box, skid steers, vibratory drum rollers, as well as, catch basin repairs, bollard installation or any maintenance project assigned to the Team. This position requires routine repair and maintenance of equipment in addition to other duties. The Foreman will communicate daily the project status with key stakeholders in the project. In addition, the Foreman will ensure that all materials are installed per specifications for the project and all work is completed with Rose Paving standards. The Foreman will plan and direct team leaders engaged in their perspective maintenance fields.
Responsibilities
- Measure slope and thickness of paving to verify compliance with contract
- Inspect completed work for conformance to specifications and standards
- Study production schedules and estimate worker hour requirements for completion of job assignment
- Participate and monitor the training and on-going development of subordinate employees
- Evaluate situations and suggest changes in working conditions and use of equipment to increase efficiency of work crews
- Coordinate work activities with Project Manager, Operations Manager, and Superintendent
- Record daily job information such as personnel, production time, material, equipment and operational data on specified forms and reports to be turned in daily
- Assign work to laborers, based on material and work requirements of specific jobs
- Order or requisition materials and supplies when needed
- Ensure proper jobsite signage is displayed at each project - must
- Take pictures of projects (i.e. before/after, Warranties, Accidents)
- Check and monitor weather on a daily basis
- Clean and prepare jobsite to eliminate possible hazards for crew and public
- Control traffic passing near, in, and around work zone
- Accountable for preventing the loading of company trucks that may result in overweight tickets
- Learn and follow safety regulations
- Start engines, move throttles, switches, and levers, and depress pedals to operate machines such as skid steers, vibratory rollers, and an occasional excavator
- Monitor operations to ensure that health and safety standards are met
- Set up and tear down equipment
- Drive machines onto truck trailers, and drive trucks to transport machines and materials to and from job site
- Clean and clear debris from culverts, catch basins, drop inlets, and ditches, and other drain structures
- Available to lead other Teams with special tasks when deemed necessary by the Operations Manager and Superintendent
- Facilitate safety meetings and crew mini-huddles
- Enforce personal company polices (i.e. Drug & Substance Abuse Policy, Sexual Harassment and any other necessary disciplinary action)
- Represent company at trade association meetings, shows, and seminars to promote the company
- Create a positive work environment through coaching and motivating to achieve company goals.
Requirements:
- Minimum of 10 years experience as an Asphalt/Paving Maintenance Foreman
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Must have broad understanding of Rose Paving's business and proven abilities in the areas of preparation and installation of asphalt and concrete repairs; and a thorough understanding of Rose Paving's other services in the areas of Cracksealing, Sealcoating, Catch Basin Repair, and Parking Lot Marking work.
- CDL Driver's License, Class A or B preferred but not required.
- Must have ability to apply concepts of basic geometry.
