SALARY: $54,000.00 ( base salary), plus additional salary credit for appropriate prior experience, Masters Degree and Grad Credits. Excellent benefits are available.
DUTIES: Responsible for providing engaging and inquiry-based high school Earth Science/Biology/Chemistry instruction with an eye toward the implementation of the NYS Next Generation Standards to students in the Turning Point and Springboard high school programs in Exceptional Education. Teacher will have freedom to prioritize content, design curricula and laboratory experiences, and create an instructional space that meets the learning needs of our students. Responsible for case management duties of homeroom and Individualized Education Plans complete with progress monitoring. Must be a flexible, out of the box thinker who is dedicated to collaboration with colleagues in the program and with our partner agency to provide a therapeutic milieu in the classroom. Maintain student records consistent with State and Federal regulations. Perform other duties as required.
This position requires the ability and desire to work with school age students with learning, emotional and
behavioral disabilities in an 8:1:1 setting.
QUALIFICATIONS: Must be New York State Certified - Students with Disabilities 7-12 Generalist (SWD 7-12) OR hold Permanent NYS Special Education Certification K-12 AND be eligible for HQ using the HOUSSE rubric in Biology and/or Earth Science and/or Chemistry OR Statement of Continued Eligibility (or limited extension) in Biology and/or Earth Science and/or Chemistry OR New York State Certified Students with Disabilities 7 12 with dual certification 7-12 Biology or Earth Science or Chemistry.
