Position Summary:
- Coordinates patient care to maximize patient safety and comfort during the cath procedure.
- Performs patient education.
- Oversees patient care in Cath Lab. Directs activities of cardiac Cath team.
- Performs technical tasks skillfully and according to policy.
- Maintains a safe and orderly environment for self, other personnel and patients.
- Maintains accurate documentation of care and communicates relevant information to members of healthcare team.
- Pursues self-development and assists in the orientation and continuing education of new employees and students.
- Delivers direct patient care appropriate to the age of the patient served.
- Serves as a resource person for other staff members, patients, and families.
- Coordinates care with other departments and assists physician in accordance with established regulations, policies, and procedures.
- Provide and coordinate patient care through the plan of care.
Reports to: Charge Nurse/Director
Minimum Education
Graduate of a Program in Discipline - Required
Required Skills
Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision.
Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.
Certifications
Basic Life Support (BLS) - to be obtained within 30 days
Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) - to be obtained within 6 months
ACLS certification required within 3 months of joining department and prior to release from orientation.
Required Licenses
Current registered nurse licensure.
