Raytheon Technologies (RTX) is seeking a Principal Infrastructure Engineer Linux OS with well-rounded Linux Infrastructure Engineering expertise to join an agile product team. The Ideal candidate will have experience in both traditional infrastructure design; provisioning of platform, storage, and networking resources for existing on-premise infrastructure hardware that ideally also has experience in emerging DevOps/DevSecOps & Service Mesh technologies. The Principal Engineer would be engaged in the design and architecture of the system with Focus on the Linux Server / Linux OS expertise and will interface both with the Program's Sr. Management and the Customer for Technical Exchange Meetings (TEMs) as required.
The Principal Engineer would be involved with development, implementation of traditional compute/network/storage systems and related deployments, as well as support improving the program platform's over-arching design through new emerging technologies. This includes existing operating systems and existing server hardware designs, as well as supporting the design and development of new modernized system architectures.
Note: This position is based in Aurora CO and will be working within a Secure Compartmented Integration Facility (SCIF) and may require some travel (10% or less) to customer sites for support and possible on call support/overtime.
What You Will Do
- You will leverage company and industry best practices and capabilities to develop and communicate implementation, of infrastructure solutions
- You will maintain existing systems through Linux Based Tools and manage the COTS stack on the system to support program needs
- You will assist to train up other Jr engineers to support the Program / team as needed to support program Operations
- You will assist with integration of the selected platform provisioning tool such as VMWare
- You will be the focal point for the equipment room (lab) to ensure that all compute network and storage resources are properly allocated and maintained for the program's use
- You will ensure that the COTS stack and versioning is consistent across the platform; and will work with the team to make updates as necessary
- You will travel to customer sites to assist in system updates and deliveries when necessary
Qualifications You Must Have
- Active and transferable U.S. government issued TS/SCI / (CI Poly Preferred) security clearance is required prior to start date. U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance
- Typically requires BS/BA Degree in Science, Technology Engineering Math (STEM) in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Technology or Physics and 8+ years of related work experience
- Experience with Agile Development Methodologies (E.g. scrum, SAFe), Extensive experience with Linux/RHEL V6+ administration and support
- Experience with troubleshooting applications & infrastructure on Linux based Operating Systems, Experience with VMware
- Experience with programming languages (E.g. Python, Java, Ruby, Bash, C++, C#, Go)
Qualifications We Prefer
- Administrative fluency with the following (or vendor equivalent): Red Hat Enterprise Linux and VMWare solutions
- Experience with Linux LDAP for creating Linux based accounts and managing roles and permissions
- Experience with Linux Bash scripting for task automation and management of existing scripts
- Experience with TCSH Knowledge
- Experience with Generation & Management of RPM Packages
- Notional experience with Windows & Windows Server OS
- HW configuration and management experience
- General / Notional Experience in Networks; SAN/NAS designs and implementation
- Ansible Automation and yaml file structure
- NetApp ONTAP 9.0 & ZFS filesystem
- Cisco IOS / Fiber Switch Familiarity
- Cisco Server Hardware / ILO Remote Management
- SonicWALL Firewall Management
- Sun Microsystems Server Management
- Deployment of SSL Certificates in Windows and Linux

The salary range for this role is 96,000 USD - 200,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate's work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
