Description: Responsibilities Basic PurposeThis position leads key projects within the Plant Accounting which includes but is not limited to leading efficiency initiatives, key system implementation projects, large capital projects, driving the capital project close out (unitization) process, and various other essential projects and duties as needed to drive the Plant Accounting are forward. In addition, this position supports Management in the planning, directing and leadership activities of the Plant Accounting department to ensure accurate and timely reporting of fixed assets and construction work in process. Ensures adequate accounting system controls for Plant Accounting and the related accounting activities and transactions. Obtains technical knowledge of plant accounting as it relates to the United States Securities and Exchange Commission ("SEC"), Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (“FERC”) requirements and U.S. generally accepted accounting practices (“US GAAP”). Responsible for coordinating and reviewing key deliverables as needed that can include items for rate cases, depreciation studies, among other items.
Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesLeads the capital close out process (unitizations) to validate we are addressing any issues and maintaining a reasonable level. In addition, identifies, implements, and maintains efficiencies for this process. Assists in leading the completion of rate case statements and schedules, responses to data requests, provides support for all plant accounts in filings and regulatory proceedings, including depreciation studies. Supports management in leading the accounting and implantation of new large capital projects or any other special projects as assigned. Provide key customer service support and build relationships to business operations to drive clear communication and understand of each areas key operation needs in order to establish understanding for efficiencies. Monitors regulatory orders and developments in all jurisdictions as they impact accounting issues to ensure appropriate accounting and reporting changes are made. Ensures that the Company’s regulatory accounting records comply with all regulatory orders and decisions. Provides expert leadership to plant accounting personnel to ensure that corporate, divisional, departmental and unit goals and objectives are achieved within scheduled timeframes. Provides operating personnel and management with accounting support on major projects to ensure that all plant reports are timely and accurate. Supports management of SOX sections 302 and 404 compliance initiatives to maintain and keeping current all documentation of internal controls over financial reporting related to plant accounting costs with no significant deficiencies or material weaknesses. Leads accounting projects and/or process improvements by identifying opportunities for improvement, developing new processes or policies and then implementing these processes or policies. Ensures all compliance aspects of position are known and followed; understands and complies with all policies, codes and regulations applicable to position and company.

Requirements Essential Education, Skills, and EnvironmentEducation and Work ExperienceBachelor’s degree in accounting or in a related field from an accredited school plus 6 years Fixed Asset Accounting related work experience. If degree is in a related field, applicant must have completed college-level coursework equivalent for Nevada CPAs.
Specialized Knowledge and SkillsDemonstrated technical knowledge and understanding of:
- Finance, accounting, budgeting and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles
- Utility and plant accounting
- Managing interdepartmental projects.
Demonstrated skills such as:
- Analytical, problem solving, planning, time management, verbal and written communication, decision making, presentation, organization, project management, and interpersonal
- Interpreting accounting, financial and economic information
- Utilization of various modeling, analytical, accounting, monitoring, or reporting software
- Prioritize and handle multiple issues and projects concurrently
- Develops and maintains relationships with internal and external customers.
Equipment and ApplicationsPCs, word processing, spreadsheet software, compliance reporting and management tools, large- scale ERP software (like Oracle Peoplesoft) and PowerPlant system preferred.
Work Environment and Physical DemandsGeneral office environment. No special physical demands required.
Compensation Annual Salary: $100,700 (Min) to $118,400 (Mid); Up to 15% Short Term Incentive Plan target opportunity at the discretion of the company. This is a non-represented position.
