Senior Accountant Job Description
POSITION SUMMARY
The Senior Accountant is responsible for supporting the Group Insurance business from an accounting/finance perspective, including setting up new group insurance customers, invoicing monthly premiums, processing vendor payments, managing treasury at PNC Bank, performing month-end close duties, preparing account reconciliations, and assisting in reporting analytics, and forecasts/budgets.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Responsible for supporting the Group Insurance business from an accounting/finance perspective, including setup of escrow accounts for new group insurance customers,
Prepare group insurance invoicing of monthly premiums,
Processing vendor payments for the group insurance business,
Responsible for treasury management at PNC Bank for the group insurance business.
Responsible for general accounting duties, including month-end closing, analyzing data and GL accounts, preparing journal entries and accruals in QuickBooks, etc.
Reconcile and maintain balance sheet accounts
Perform financial analysis, generate conclusions and recommendations
Ensure compliance with GAAP and company standards and controls
Assist with state regulatory compliance reporting
Follow up on all outstanding issues on a timely basis
Maintain excellent customer service with internal and external partners
Assist with special projects and department goals
Proactively identify areas of opportunity /weakness and recommend solutions
QUALIFICATIONS
5+ years of related financial analysis, audit, or accounting experience (prior experience in a medical insurance environment is a plus)
Big 4 or regional firm public accounting experience is preferred
Expertise in generally accepted accounting practices with CPA certification preferred
Ability to build partnerships across departments and partners
Comfortable working in dynamic and fast-paced environments with ability to be flexible
Position requires strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Advanced Excel skills and experience, including analysis of mass data sets, Vlookups, pivot tables, and formulas are required
High level of QuickBooks experience is required
Ability to prepare work accurately and timely
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Career-oriented with an Interest in advancement
EDUCATION
Bachelor's or masters degree in accounting is required with a CPA preferred
QUALIFICATIONS
