Distribution Business Development Manager is the foundational piece between Velocity and our external partners. In this role, you will execute the distribution strategy for Line Underwriters. This includes vetting, appointing, and managing the distribution force of agents/brokers for Line underwriters branded products. You will be responsible for balancing the needs and goals of Velocity with the care and support of our distribution network. You will be the source of communication between us and everything our partners need to be successful in the market, from product insight and education to monitoring performance and holding our partners accountable. This will require heavy travel and large amounts of time spent in the market to build and grow foundational relationships and drive effective connections and communication.

Core Competencies:
The core responsibilities of this role are…
- Responsible for marketing directly to our commercial producers and understanding that market and how to create success within the landscape.
- Actively traveling (60-75%) to understand the market conditions: competition, needs within the space, identifying new business, and building advantageous relationships.
- Responsible for driving performance from the distribution channels (i.e. plan vs actual GWP, profitability, quote levels, etc.).
- This includes account escalations, vetting potentials, onboarding new partners, monitoring metrics, meeting with the teams, building relationships, managing up or out, goal setting for profitability, and holding others accountable.
- External communication with support from marketing for alignment
- This includes general marketing campaigns but also ad hoc communications relevant to business updates or changes

- Maintaining information in the system of record for all meetings and business ventures.
Qualifications
Demonstrated Experience for success in this role… • 3+ years' in an Account Management/Outside sales role• Retail Insurance industry experience required.• Experience in Excel (Pivot tables, etc.) • Competent in PowerPoint with strong presentation abilities. • Bachelor's degree • Experience working with CRM / CSM tools • Demonstrated ability to build a profitable book of business Velocity Risk provides equal opportunity to everyone, and we do not tolerate discrimination or harassment to anyone.

We are a hybrid team with 3 days in office, 2 days remote.
