Summary
The Warehouse Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the warehouse facility, ensuring efficient and organized processes related to the storage, handling, and distribution of pet products and supplies. This role involves managing a team of warehouse staff, maintaining inventory accuracy, coordinating shipments, and upholding safety and quality standards.
Responsibilities:
1. Team Leadership:
- Lead, train, and supervise a team of warehouse associates, ensuring a cohesive and productive work environment.
- Assign tasks, set performance expectations, and provide ongoing feedback to team members.
- Conduct regular performance evaluations and address any performance or behavior concerns.
2. Inventory Management:
- Maintain accurate inventory records using inventory management system, work closely with Inventory Controller to ensure proper inventory levels.
3. Warehousing Operations:
- Oversee the receiving, storing, and retrieval of pet products and supplies.
- Organize the layout of the warehouse to maximize space utilization and optimize workflow.
- Ensure compliance with storage guidelines to prevent damage or spoilage of products.
4. Order Fulfillment:
- Coordinate order picking, packing, and shipping processes to meet customer demands.
- Monitor order accuracy and packaging quality to ensure customer satisfaction.
5. Safety and Compliance:
- Enforce safety regulations and best practices to create a safe work environment.
- Train staff on proper handling of products, equipment operation, and safety protocols.
- Ensure compliance with industry standards, health regulations, and quality control measures.
6. Equipment Maintenance:
- Coordinate with maintenance specialists the repair of warehouse equipment such as forklifts, pallet jacks, etc.
- Schedule regular equipment inspections and arrange for repairs as needed.
7. Documentation and Reporting:
- Maintain accurate records of incoming and outgoing shipments, inventory levels, and any incidents.
- Generate reports on warehouse operations, inventory turnover, and order fulfillment metrics.
8. Continuous Improvement:
- Identify opportunities for process optimization and efficiency improvements.
- Implement best practices to streamline warehouse operations and reduce costs.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement new procedures and technologies.
- High school diploma or equivalent; some college coursework or a degree in supply chain management, logistics, or a related field is a plus.
- 3 years of proven experience in warehouse management, preferably in the pet industry or a similar field.
- Strong leadership and interpersonal skills with the ability to motivate and manage a diverse team.
- Proficiency in using inventory management and other relevant tools.
- Knowledge of safety regulations and best practices within a warehouse environment.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Effective communication skills for coordinating with team members, vendors, and other departments.
Physical Demands.
- The position requires walking primarily on a level surface for long periods throughout the day.
- The employee may reach above shoulder heights or below the waist and lift as required to store materials throughout the workday.
- May also engage in frequent bending, stooping, pushing, and pulling of boxes.
- The employee must be able to lift 50 pounds and use proper lifting techniques.
Work Environment:
The performance of this position requires exposure to the manufacturing areas that require the use of personal protective clothing such as hairnets, gloves, and aprons. For the most part the position is exposed to ambient room temperature.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time hourly position. Monday to Friday from 8:00am to 4:30 pm. Overtime flexibility is required based on the needs of the department.
