The Staff Pad is honored to partner with a non-profit healthcare system in Helena, Montana with superior care and a hometown commitment to be the gold standard for health care in Montana. We are seeking an Oncology Pharmacist to join this growing healthcare organization.
Under the direction of the Director of Pharmacy and in collaboration with the Director of Cancer Care, the Oncology Pharmacist is responsible for collaborating with providers in developing, implementing and maintaining treatment plans for oncology and hematology patients. Utilizes clinical knowledge to promote best practice and facilitate safe and effective patient care. Serves as an educational resource for patients, providers, and staff.
RESPONSIBILITIES

Monitors drug therapy according to established protocols and guidelines and documents interventions

Collaborates with providers and other members of the care team to optimize medication therapy, patient outcomes, and patient experience

Coordinates with designated staff to optimize workflow, productivity, and reimbursement

Collaborates with the inpatient pharmacy, outpatient retail and specialty pharmacies for optimal medication delivery

Collaborates with designated staff for medication benefits investigation to provide the best financial outcome for patients and the organization

Identifies opportunities for quality improvement

Develops educational programs for patients, providers, and staff

Participates on key clinical and operational committees

Assures compliance with clinical best practice standards and guidelines, accrediting agencies, billing guidelines, and all state and federal regulations.

Precepts pharmacy residents and APPE students
QUALIFICATIONS
KNOWLEDGE/EXPERIENCE: Must possess knowledge of drug therapy and pharmacologic treatment of disease states, and must possess high-level knowledge in the area of oncology. Knowledge of drug cost benefits as related to drug therapy. Knowledge of best practices related to medication use and understanding of the application of that information to clinical practice. Ability to utilize various resources to determine current best practices and develop guidelines for application of those practices including understanding of the individual nature of patients and exceptions to the general rules. Must be able to analyze results, make recommendations and follow-up on recommended actions. Must have knowledge of and ability to efficiently utilize technology in the practice of pharmacy.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE: Bachelors in Pharmacy or PharmD from an ACPE-accredited school of pharmacy required. Completion of an accredited ASHP Residency Program and/or 2 years of experience in oncology practice preferred.
LICENSE/CERTIFICATION/REGISTRY: Licensed as a registered pharmacist in Montana in good standing required. Board of Pharmaceutical Specialties certification or other specialty certification preferred.
